Job Description

Role & responsibilities


We are looking for a highly skilled Civil Engineer with expertise in (PHE) to lead and manage road and infrastructure projects. This role involves planning, Execution and overseeing the construction of roadways, drainage systems, and related infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and public health.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Design & Planning:
    • Develop and review designs for roadways, drainage systems, and associated infrastructure projects with an emphasis on public health impacts.
    • Perform site assessments to evaluate the suitability of locations for road and infrastructure projects.
    • Ensure designs incorporate best practices for stormwater management, erosion control, and sanitation.
  • Technical Oversight:
    • Oversee construction activities to ensure they align with project designs, specifications, and public health standards.
    • Conduct regular site inspections and supervise contractors, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Address and resolve technical issues that arise during construction, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and costs.
  • Project Management:
    • Prepare project budgets, schedules, and resource plans, and manage these elements throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Monitor project progress, making adjustments as necessary to stay on track and within budget.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to management, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Create and maintain detailed project documentation, including design plans, progress reports, and compliance records.
    • Ensure that all documentation meets regulatory and legal requirements.
    • Compile and review technical reports and project proposals.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and urban planners to ensure integration of PHE considerations into road and infrastructure projects.
    • Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and team members to address concerns and provide project updates.
    • Offer technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Masters Degree in Public Health Engineering or a similar specialization is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on road and infrastructure projects, particularly those involving public health considerations.
  • Strong knowledge of public health engineering principles, road design standards, and infrastructure planning.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software and project management tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with advanced roadway and drainage design technologies.
  • Knowledge of environmental impact assessments and sustainable infrastructure practices.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and permitting related to road and infrastructure projects.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
  • Ability to work in diverse weather conditions and in both office and field environments.
  • Some overtime may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
