Back-End Developer (PostgreSQL)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated Senior Back-End Developer with strong experience in PHP and PostgreSQL to join our development team. As a Senior Back-End Developer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining server-side applications, managing databases, and contributing to the overall of our systems.

Responsibilities:

1. Database Design:
• Design, develop, and maintain highly efficient and scalable PostgreSQL databases.
• Create and optimize complex database schemas to support application requirements.
• Define data relationships and design normalized tables while ensuring scalability and performance.
2. Query Optimization:
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries to enhance performance.
• Analyze query performance and implement indexing, partitioning, and query caching to optimize response times.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database performance, including slow queries and bottlenecks.
3. Back-End Development:
• Develop and maintain server-side logic, APIs, and services that interact with PostgreSQL databases.
• Implement business logic in the back-end to handle transactions, user requests, and application functionality.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate the back-end services with the front-end application seamlessly.
4. Database Maintenance & Support:
• Ensure database uptime, reliability, and availability by monitoring database health and performance.
• Perform regular database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Monitor and ensure data consistency and integrity across different services and databases.
• Implement and maintain database security protocols to safeguard sensitive information.
5. Data Migration & Integration:
• Migrate data between different database systems, including SQL and NoSQL environments, when necessary.
• Integrate PostgreSQL with external data sources and third-party APIs for data exchange and synchronization.
6. Version Control and Deployment:
• Use version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage changes to back-end code and database schema.
• Collaborate with DevOps to manage database deployments, rollbacks, and schema migrations as part of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
7. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
• Work with other teams, including product managers, front-end developers, and DevOps, to ensure project alignment and smooth functionality.
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and product planning to ensure best practices and coding standards.
8. Security and Compliance:
• Implement robust security practices for database access, such as encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), and auditing.
• Ensure the database infrastructure complies with relevant data protection laws and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
9. Troubleshooting & Debugging:
• Diagnose and resolve database-related issues such as data corruption, performance degradation, and system failures.
• Provide debugging support for developers by helping identify and resolve database-related bugs or errors in production.
10. Monitoring and Reporting:
• Set up database monitoring tools to track database health, performance, and usage.
• Generate reports for database metrics, including query performance, data storage, and uptime.
11. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:
• Document database schema designs, data relationships, and important configurations for internal knowledge sharing.
• Create technical documentation for maintaining and troubleshooting the database infrastructure.
12. Continuous Improvement:
• Stay updated with the latest PostgreSQL features, tools, and techniques to improve the performance and capabilities of back-end systems.
• Participate in post-mortem analysis and implement lessons learned for future improvements.
