Job Summary: The Admission Counselor is responsible for assisting prospective students in navigating the admissions process, from inquiry to enrollment. This role involves recruitment activities, maintaining relationships with prospective students, and providing guidance on academic programs, application procedures, scholarships, and financial aid. The counselor will also attend recruitment events, conduct informational sessions, and participate in college fairs to engage and attract new applicants.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students, their families, and high school counselors.
Advise prospective students on academic programs, admissions requirements, and deadlines.
Review and evaluate student applications, including transcripts, essays, recommendation letters, and test scores.
Conduct interviews and provide feedback to the admissions team regarding candidate suitability.
Assist with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies to attract diverse and qualified students.
Represent the institution at high school visits, college fairs, and other recruitment events.
Provide follow-up communication to prospective students through email, phone calls, and social media.
Maintain accurate records of student interactions in the CRM system, ensuring timely follow-ups.
Coordinate and facilitate campus tours and open house events.
Provide guidance on scholarship opportunities, financial aid processes, and student life.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and current students to ensure a positive, informative experience for prospective students.
Assist in processing and making decisions on applications for admission, including recommending candidates for scholarships and special programs.
Stay current on institutional policies, programs, and trends in higher education.
Contribute to marketing efforts by providing feedback on materials and participating in content creation for recruitment campaigns.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
Previous experience in higher education admissions or student services preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM systems (e.g., Slate, Salesforce).
Knowledge of admissions policies, procedures, and trends in higher education.
Ability to travel and represent the institution at recruitment events.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with a diverse group of students, parents, and colleagues.
