Engineering Director - India

The Role

As an Engineering Leader, you will lead and inspire a team of talented engineers and engineering managers, driving the design, development and maintenance of our scalable, secure, and high-performing software that aligns with our strategic goals in the area of process orchestration and automation. You will work closely with product management, design, customer success, and other cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with our business objectives, ensuring our products meet and exceed our customers needs. You will play a critical role in defining and executing the technical vision that supports both the immediate growth and long-term success of our product offering while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and empowerment of your teams.

The work you ll do:

• Collaborate with senior leadership and product teams to define the product and technical strategy and roadmap, prioritising engineering efforts to meet business objectives while balancing short-term goals with strategic initiatives.
• Ensure the architecture and design emphasize scalability, high availability, and security.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence by promoting best practices in software design, implementation, and delivery.
• Provide strategic leadership and guidance to multiple engineering teams, fostering a culture of trust, innovation, collaboration and accountability within the team as well as the department.
• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of key engineering projects, balancing resource allocation and timelines to meet business needs.
• Regularly engage with customers and customer-facing teams to stay abreast of how users are interacting with our products, understand their current challenges, and make data-driven decisions to further improve functionality, usability and the value we deliver to our users.
• Set clear goals and success metrics for your teams, monitoring progress and adjusting as necessary to meet project and organizational objectives.
• Mentor, develop and retain top engineering talent within your organization - ranging from individual contributors to managers - supporting their growth and career development.
• Drive team engagement, performance and morale by implementing best practices in team management and creating a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
• Communicate strategy, plans and progress to the wider Product and Engineering team, Celonis, stakeholders and customers, determining the right level of communication appropriate for each situation.

The qualifications you need:

• 15+ years experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing teams.
• Commendable experience of building applications
• Experience in the domain of automation/process automation and integration is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and grow engineering teams. Proven track record of building high-performing teams that deliver ambitious results.
• Proven experience in managing highly distributed teams across multiple locations, with the flexibility to travel to foster team cohesion, build strong relationships, and ensure effective collaboration.
• Experience in delivering high-quality engineering projects that meet or exceed customers needs.
• Experience in building data-driven decision-making practices.
