The Thematic Lead Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) will be responsible for enhancing the institutional capacity of Caritas India in the thematic area of DRR and Emergency Response (ER). This role involves providing technical support for program management, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and leading a team to meet organizational objectives in DRR.
Develop thematic expertise in DRR & ER, integrating emerging trends into impactful programs.
Design model DRR & ER programs in collaboration with field staff for effective planning.
Innovate and provide knowledge solutions for DRR/ER initiatives.
Create a national DRR & ER strategy aligned with organizational goals.
Oversee large-scale emergency activities and maintain disaster relief programs.
Facilitate monitoring, evaluation, and learning to enhance program quality.
Lead the conceptualization and proposal development process for new initiatives.
Conduct capacity-building sessions for team members on DRR.
Ensure compliance with Core Humanitarian Standards in DRR programs.
Manage consultants to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and timelines
Strengthen partnerships with international and national organizations.
Develop tools to assess partner capacity needs and provide technical training as required.
Engage with donors to enhance relationships and ensure timely reporting.
Facilitate impact studies and assessments for internal learning.
Build knowledge platforms to share lessons learned and new insights.
Disseminate good practices and trends in DRR to stakeholders.
Networking and Linkages
Establish connections with government and relevant organizations in the thematic area.
Participate in national and international networks to enhance visibility.
Organize conferences and events to strengthen network linkages.
Resource Management / Mobilization & CI Visibility
Contribute to funding proposals and expand networks with academia, CSOs, and government.
Mobilize resources and engage in CSR initiatives to support CI programs.
Enhance visibility for Caritas India.
Other Duties
Perform any other tasks as assigned based on organizational needs.
Internal: HOD PSS, DRR & ER staff, field/zonal staff, program and finance teams, administration, and HR.
External: Donors, research institutions, government offices, and consultants.
Person Specifications:
Knowledge:
Understanding of socio-economic and political contexts in the region.
Familiarity with Catholic social teaching and the role of the church.
Awareness of global and national DRR & ER frameworks and guidelines.
