Taxation

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct Tax Compliance:
   
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of income tax returns for individuals, companies, and other entities.
• Prepare and review tax computations, tax returns, and related schedules.
• Liaise with the tax authorities for tax assessments and appeals, if applicable.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements related to direct taxes, including Income Tax, Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), and other applicable regulations.
2. Tax Planning & Advisory:
   
• Advise clients on tax planning strategies to optimize tax liability while ensuring full legal compliance.
• Provide guidance on structuring of transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and business expansions from a tax perspective.
• Assist in reviewing business models, investments, and contracts to ensure tax-efficient structures.
3. Transfer Pricing:
   
• Oversee and manage transfer pricing compliance, documentation, and reporting.
• Prepare transfer pricing reports, and ensure adherence to transfer pricing regulations.
4. Audit & Assessment Support:
   
• Support internal audits, statutory audits, and tax audits.
• Assist clients in dealing with assessments, investigations, and appeals related to income tax.
5. Research and Legislative Updates:
   
• Stay updated with changes in direct tax laws, judicial pronouncements, and tax reforms.
• Advise the management or clients on the impact of new tax laws or amendments and recommend adjustments to business strategies.
6. Tax Dispute Resolution:
   
• Represent clients before tax authorities in case of disputes or investigations.
• Assist in handling tax litigation, including drafting replies to tax notices, preparing submissions, and participating in hearings.
7. Tax Reporting:
   
• Prepare and review tax provisions for financial reporting purposes in compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., Ind AS, IFRS).
• Coordinate with the finance and accounting teams to ensure the accuracy of tax-related information.
8. Team Management:
   
• Lead and mentor a team of junior tax professionals, providing training, guidance, and support.
• Review the work of junior team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
9. Client Interaction:
   
• Act as the primary point of contact for direct taxation matters for clients.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing exceptional service and proactive advice.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification (mandatory). Additional qualifications such as LLB or Diploma in Taxation would be a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum 3-9 years of experience in direct taxation, including tax compliance, advisory, and tax litigation.
• Experience working in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department is preferred.
• Technical Skills:
• Deep understanding of Indian tax laws, including Income Tax Act, GST, TDS, transfer pricing, and other related regulations.
• Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with tax compliance platforms and ERP systems is a plus.
