Experienced Finance Controller For US based Company, Navi Mumbai

Our Global Capability Center (GCC) in Navi Mumbai is a key part of our operations, providing financial and accounting support to drive business growth and efficiency.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead and establish financial processes for a group of US-based business units with revenue approaching $200m. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficiency in accounting operations. Initially, the Controller will oversee general accounting, billing, accounts receivable, and cash application, with the potential to expand into other areas of Finance.

This is an on-site role until key processes are well established, after which a hybrid model may be considered. The Controller will start with two direct reports and a total team of seven, with plans to expand as more work transitions to this unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in financial reporting.
• Lead and develop the team responsible for general accounting, billing, accounts receivable, and cash application.
• Implement and standardize financial processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Work closely with the US-based Chief Accounting Officer and global finance leadership to align strategies and best practices.
• Support audits (internal and external) by preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial integrity.
• Provide financial insights and reporting to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
• Manage the transition of additional finance functions, as the business unit grows.

Qualifications & Experience

• Chartered Accountant (CA) certification is required.
• 10+ years of experience in accounting or related finance functions.
• Strong leadership experience, including starting, managing and scaling accounting teams.
• Experience working in a BPO or GCC is highly desired.
• Deep understanding of accounting standards, financial controls, and compliance.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite or similar) and financial reporting tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and establish processes from the ground up.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with global teams and stakeholders.
