Role & responsibilities

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in business development and proposals within the railway, metro, or infrastructure consulting sectors.
  • Proven track record of winning large-scale consulting projects.
  • Understanding of railway operations, metro systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

Role Summary:


The Head Business Development and Proposals will be responsible for driving the business development strategy, identifying new business opportunities, and leading the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals for railway consulting and advisory services. The role requires a deep understanding of the railway and metro sectors, strong industry networks, and a track record in winning consulting projects.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Business Development Strategy:


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve revenue targets.
  • Identify new markets, clients, and business opportunities in the railway and metro sectors, including public and private clients.
  • Track industry trends, upcoming projects, and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge.

2. Client Engagement:


  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, railway operators, private sector companies, and international clients.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for major clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Attend industry events, seminars, and conferences to network and represent the company.

3. Proposals and Bidding:


  • Lead the preparation, submission, and negotiation of proposals and bids for consulting projects.
  • Develop winning proposals by collaborating with technical, legal, and financial teams to ensure compliance with client requirements.
  • Monitor the entire bid process, from pre-qualification and RFP review to technical and commercial submissions.
  • Ensure adherence to timelines and high standards of quality in all proposal submissions.

4. Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the business development and proposals team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Develop internal capabilities and ensure the team is well-equipped with the latest industry knowledge and proposal preparation techniques.
  • Conduct regular reviews of business development activities and proposal processes to optimize performance.

5. Strategic Partnerships and Alliances:

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships and joint ventures to enhance the companys market position.
  • Negotiate teaming agreements, consortium partnerships, and subcontractor arrangements as needed.

6. Market Intelligence and Analysis:

  • Perform market analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and threats
