Business Analyst - Payments

Position Title: Business Analyst Payments Domain

Experience Level: 4-8 years

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with 4-8 years of expertise in the payments domain. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of payment systems, including card-based transactions and backend processes such as settlement and reconciliation, preferably within Mastercard, Visa, or Amex ecosystems. This role requires a combination of business analysis, process optimization, and stakeholder management skills to deliver impactful payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Requirements Gathering & Analysis:
• Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for payment solutions.
• Conduct gap analysis between existing systems and business needs to recommend improvements.
• Payments Process Expertise:
• Analyze and document end-to-end payment workflows, including authorization, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
• Work with teams to design solutions aligned with Mastercard, Visa, or Amex processes and industry standards.
• Solution Design & Documentation:
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications for development teams.
• Create process flow diagrams, use cases, and data mapping documents to support solution implementation.
• Stakeholder Management:
• Act as a liaison between business teams, technical teams, and external partners to ensure alignment on project objectives.
• Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders to provide updates, gather feedback, and manage expectations.
• Testing & Validation:
• Support the creation and execution of test plans and test cases to validate the functionality of payment solutions.
• Collaborate with QA teams to ensure compliance with business requirements and industry standards.
• Process Optimization:
• Identify inefficiencies in existing payment processes and recommend enhancements to improve performance, reduce costs, and ensure compliance.
• Support the implementation of automation and digital transformation initiatives within the payments ecosystem.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
• 4-8 years of experience in the payments domain, with a strong understanding of card payment systems and backend processes.
• Familiarity with Mastercard, Visa, or Amex systems and standards.

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

• Knowledge of payment gateways, transaction processing, and settlement workflows.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements such as PCI-DSS.
• Experience with tools like MS Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent for process mapping.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Confluence.
• Technical knowledge of APIs, data formats (JSON, XML), and system integrations is a plus.
