Lead Test Engineering

As a Lead Test Engineer in the Digital Experience team at Hubbell you will play a pivotal role in quality delivery of web and mobile applications for our customers. This position focuses on implementing and overseeing quality assurance practicesboth manual and automated—to deliver outstanding experiences for our users. In this role, you will design and manage comprehensive testing strategies, ensure thorough test coverage across all platforms, and provide guidance to QA team members and engineers to meet sprint deadlines while upholding exceptional quality standards. A key to success in this position is having an eye for detail, a drive to explore edge cases, and a passion for leveraging cutting-edge tools to streamline testing processes and ensure high-quality deliverables.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain testing strategies for web and mobile applications and APIs.
• Collaborate with product owners, delivery leads and developers to refine acceptance criteria which will drive manual and automated testing plans.
• Create and manage comprehensive test plans, cases, and scripts in tools like Azure DevOps, Tricentis qTest, and Tosca.
• Design and execute automated tests for UI and API validation using tools such as Selenium, Postman, and jMeter.
• Monitor and ensure test coverage aligns with requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Mentor team members in advanced testing techniques and automated testing practices.
• Identify gaps in the testing process and develop strategies for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address issues, retest fixes, and validate production releases.
• Conduct regression, performance, and integration testing to identify and resolve defects before deployment.
• Conduct post-release validation to ensure application stability.
• Document and present test results emphasizing key findings and recommendations.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in software testing with a focus on automated testing.
• Passion for continuous learning and growth, with a commitment to staying up to date on the latest testing strategies, tools, and technologies.
• Proven experience with Azure DevOps for managing test plans and tracking progress.
• Proficiency in tools like Selenium, Postman, Tricentis Tosca, Tricentis qTest, and jMeter.
• Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and tools for managing work items, such as Azure DevOps or JIRA.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools for collaboration and data management, including Teams and Excel.
• Strong understanding of API testing, including validation of response accuracy and performance.
• Understanding of creating and running Microsoft SQL queries for data validation and set up as well as a basic understanding of Cosmos DB to review data created.
• Demonstrated ability to lead within a QA team, manage testing schedules, and meet deadlines in an Agile environment.
• Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and a proactive mindset to identify edge cases and potential issues.
• Experience in writing and editing automated test plans for both UI and API testing.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey testing results and quality concerns to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with performance testing and tools to simulate and validate load conditions.
