Job Description
As a Solution Design Specialist - NC OSS ensures to support the integration of monitoring, provisioning and orchestration functions which underpin BT s NC cloud . By doing so, you will help to streamline the processes, improve efficiency, and ultimately enhance the ability to deliver high-quality services to end customers.
What you'll be doing
- Provides technical quality assurance over work of other engineers through matrix team structure.
- Creates and implements technical solutions for a domain or cross domains / portfolios of work within a specific technology area autonomously, understanding how solutions impact systems internally and/or externally and assessing impact of change.
- Provides sound technical expertise to consult on significant component(s) of a technical solution within a specific domain or cross domain.
- Identifies opportunities to improve standards of practice within a project, continuously enhancing ways of working.
- Delivers resolutions to problems that tend to be complex, cross-domain or of high impact to customers.
- Identifies opportunities to improve standards of practice within a project, continuously enhancing ways of working.
- Develop and maintain architectural diagrams, design specifications, and process diagrams that support changes to Monitoring platform applications.
- Manage development timelines and ensure that development teams meet project milestones
- Provide design support for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and bug fixes.
- Assist in creating Agile user stories based on business requirements.
- Offer guidance and support to development teams during the analysis, development, and testing processes.
- Review designs created by component teams to ensure they align with best practices.
- Foster relationships with senior management and development leads on the OSS Monitoring platform.
You will also be responsible for

- Driving efficiency and cost reduction through defining Brilliant and Simple requirements to the supplier and other BT systems
Quality
- Ensuring rigorous, scalable and highly available solutions to underpin the OSS tooling stack.

- Deliver high level designs in timely fashion in time.

- Be agile - You identify opportunities to use collaborative approaches and continuous improvement. You contribute to projects as a subject matter expert or content owner.
Experience you d be expected to have
- Solution design experience in inventory management, network diagnostic, Network monitoring.
- Good understanding of CMDB, Network Orchestration, Telecom Network Inventory (TNI), Reporting and Workflow.
- Experience in designing, building, and maintaining monitoring solutions for Cloud based network functions (Alerting, Correlations, Orchestrations, Logging, Inventory)
- Experience working in an Agile environment using JIRA & Confluence tools
- Make decisions in ambiguous situations using incomplete information or differing opinions (eg divided team loyalties or unclear deliverables).
- Aligned project plans and objectives with BT strategy and values
- Actively participated in strategy setting sessions
- To suit the needs of a customer, colleague or client; moved outside of expected process or practice
- Been a spokesperson for others on issues of integrity
- Cross-functional collaboration
- Strong team player but also able to work independently without supervision
