Job Title: Assistant Lab Manager

Job Description:

Arizona Biotech Private Limited is seeking an experienced Lab Manager to oversee daily operations within the R&D and quality control laboratories. The successful candidate will ensure that lab activities align with company goals, focusing on biofertilizer formulations, mycorrhiza-based products, biopesticides, and sustainable agriculture solutions. The Lab Manager will lead a team of scientists, microbiologists and technicians while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and scientific rigor.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lab Operations:

• Manage day-to-day lab activities, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
• Oversee the development and optimization of bioformulations (biofertilizers, biopesticides, etc.).
• Ensure accurate and timely data collection, analysis, and reporting for ongoing research and quality control.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all lab protocols.
• Maintain documentation related to all activities and tasks in the lab.

2. Team Management:

• Lead, mentor, and train laboratory staff, including scientists, technicians, and interns.
• Foster a collaborative environment, promoting research innovation and cross-departmental communication.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and support career development.

3. Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration, ensuring compliance with internal and external quality standards.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and reagents.

4. Research and Development:

• Lead the R&D team on projects related to microbial formulations, mycorrhiza-based products, and other sustainable agriculture solutions.
• Keep abreast of current research trends and suggest innovative approaches to product development.
• Provide expert advisory on matters related to bioformulations, processes, soil science, etc. as needed.

5. Documentation and Reporting:

• Oversee the accurate documentation of all lab activities, including experiment results, inventory logs, and equipment maintenance records.
• Prepare detailed reports for internal reviews and external collaborations, including research papers and grant proposals.
• Ensure that all records comply with industry regulations and company policies.
• Create a framework to ensure lab activities follow a well-documented and mature process aligned with respective regulations and compliance requirements.
• Track all relevant compliance requirements and ensure parity with regulatory frameworks and industry best practices/standards.

6. Project Management:

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet timelines and quality benchmarks.
• Coordinate with external partners, such as academic institutions, research organizations, and international collaborators.

Qualifications:

• MSc or PhD in Agricultural Microbiology, Agricultural Biotechnology or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a lab management or supervisory role, preferably in agriculture or related field.
• Strong knowledge of biofertilizer formulation, microbiological techniques, and mycorrhiza research.
• Proven experience in team leadership and lab safety management.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and quality standards in agricultural biotechnology.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with metagenomic analysis and microbial diversity research.
• Background in sustainable agriculture and the development of biocontrol products.
• Project management experience and the ability to coordinate with external collaborators.
