Creative Department Head - Compositing

POSITION SUMMARY:

BOT VFX, a company that provides post-production services for the entertainment industry and serves clients globally, is seeking a permanent "Creative Head" to oversee the key creatives responsible for meeting clients creative needs throughout the delivery process.
As the Creative Department Head, you will be responsible for coaching, developing, and managing the creative within your department to effectively serve the companys portfolio of shows. This position will work closely with the Creative Head, the Head of Production (HoP), the Producing team, and occasionally with clients on creative matters. As the single point of accountability for the organizations delivery quality and operations, the Creative Head will report to the COO.
Prior experience in managing a creative department for Compositing, in the visual effects industry is a must.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITY

• Ensure the department s creative and technical quality meets and exceeds client expectations
• Provide creative supervision to the team, as appropriate.
• Work with Production managers to schedule effective training during downtime.
• Manage conflict within the team, facilitation of team engagement.
• Ensure inter-delivery center integration of their department
• Leave management: Optimize leaves availed by the team during crunch period working closely with the production.
• Maintain relationship with the producers and clients when needed
• Plan resources and balance show(s) allocation. Work with the Dept Manager. (secondary)
• Provide inputs for Pipeline development implementation of the same.
• Overview the Research Development that benefits the team.
• Creative Quality Assurance - CSAT. Make sure that we keep our clients happy.
• Manage the department s operational performance through its key performance indicators working closely with the department manager(s)
• Responsible for Department utilization and achieving the target.
• Maintain a balanced ratio between B/NB HC within the department.
• Manage department budget on creative artists leads salary.
• Present the performance of the department to the sr. executives at regular intervals (Weekly/Monthly)
• Develop a strong creative team and leaders within their team
• Be a mentor and guide to the team to create next generation leaders
• Manage the Inter facility culture.
• Hire creative talent for the department managing appraisals, promotions and talent retention.
• Plan and manage operational (non-people) resources to manage their team s effectiveness and efficiency
• Manage software, hardware infrastructure procurements for dept s current needs and set down proposals foreseeing the future requirements.
• Manage software, tools, plugins and infrastructure requirements for the department with inputs from Sups.
• Work closely with other support resources like TD support and Dev support
• Develop the team s creative skills to meet current anticipated needs
• Keep an active skill matrix of the department and work towards gap-closures by sharing details to the training manager.
• Track and enhance skill proficiencies of the artists including multi-skilling
• Explore experiment with ways in which emerging technologies might alter their department s work

REQUIRED SKILLS

• At least 12+ years of experience in VFX industry with initial hands-on experience,
• Experience managing a strong portfolio with a wide range of shows and high-profile clients up to a team size of 100+.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) .
• Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to handle difficult client situations with finesse.
• Structured and disciplined
• Strong process orientation balanced with a keen understanding of tradeoffs on approaches. Should have the experience to understand the tradeoffs between quick results, best results, and flexibility of the solution. Should understand the diminishing point of return on an activity.
• Strong analytical skills with capability to identify and solve issues quickly
• A commitment to building and maintaining the BOT company culture.
