Data Scientist

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze large-scale learning datasets generated by the Moodle 4.5 platform to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improving the adaptive learning experience.
• Develop and implement machine learning models to enhance personalized learning pathways, content recommendations, and student engagement within the platform.
• Collaborate with Moodle developers and AI specialists to integrate machine learning and data science solutions seamlessly into the platform s architecture.
• Design and deploy predictive models for student performance, dropout prediction, and personalized feedback based on historical data.
• Utilize learning analytics to provide insights that optimize course content, instructional strategies, and learner engagement.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and data cleaning to ensure the quality and consistency of educational data used in model development.
• Develop recommendation systems to personalize learning content for students based on their behavior, preferences, and learning progress.
• Work closely with the product and design teams to understand educational requirements and translate them into actionable data science solutions.
• Implement and optimize AI-driven learning features such as adaptive quizzes , automated feedback systems , and intelligent tutoring within the Moodle platform.
• Design and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to visualize key metrics related to student performance, course engagement, and learning outcomes.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and learning analytics to improve platform capabilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Experience : 4+ years of experience in data science or machine learning, with a focus on educational technologies, e-learning platforms, or similar domains.
• Technical Skills :
  • Proficiency in Python or R , with experience in libraries like Pandas , NumPy , Scikit-learn , TensorFlow , Keras , PyTorch , etc.
  • Strong experience in developing machine learning models for personalized recommendations, predictive analytics, and behavior modeling.
  • Experience with adaptive learning algorithms , personalized learning systems , or learning analytics .
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques for content analysis and chatbots in education.
  • Experience with deep learning techniques, image processing, computer vision and neural networks.
  • Knowledge of Moodle 4.5 AI-driven features , including AI-based recommendation systems and adaptive learning tools.
  • Expertise in data wrangling , cleaning, and preprocessing techniques, specifically for educational datasets.
  • Proficiency in SQL and working with large relational databases to extract and manipulate data.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau , Power BI , or Matplotlib , to present insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of statistical methods and data mining techniques applied to educational data.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS , Azure , Google Cloud ) and big data tools such as Spark is a plus.
  • Experience in integrating AI-driven systems within existing software frameworks or platforms..

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to understand complex educational challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, making insights actionable and understandable.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of big data technologies like Hadoop , Hive , or Spark .
• Experience working with learning management systems (LMS) , particularly Moodle , is highly desirable.

Education

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science , Data Science , Mathematics , Statistics , or a related field.
