The role
The Associate Data Engineer is a vital role within the Blenheim Chalcot portfolio and Oakbrook. As an Associate Data Engineer, you will work alongside senior data engineers and collaborate with various teams to build and maintain data pipelines, manage data infrastructure, and ensure the quality and availability of data for analysis and decision-making. You will play a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights that drive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in Data Pipeline Development:
Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines using Python and PySpark under the guidance of senior engineers.
Work on transforming and processing data efficiently.
Cloud Technology Exposure:
Gain experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Databricks.
Assist in cloud-based data migration and optimization projects.
Data Orchestration & ETL:
Learn and support Azure Data Factory (ADF) for data orchestration.
Assist in Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, ensuring data is moved and processed efficiently.
SQL Development & Data Modelling:
Write and optimize SQL queries for data retrieval and transformation.
Contribute to data modelling efforts to support business reporting and analytics.
Data Quality & Debugging:
Support troubleshooting and debugging of data pipelines.
Assist in monitoring data quality and implementing validation checks.
Agile Development & Collaboration:
Work within an agile development environment, participating in team meetings and sprint planning.
Collaborate with data analysts and software engineers to deliver data-driven solutions.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving business and hence be comfortable with change and uncertainty. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.
Essential Skills:
1 - 3 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or a related field.
Basic proficiency in Python and SQL (experience with PySpark is a plus).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS) is beneficial.
Understanding of ETL processes and data pipelines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have skills:
Exposure to Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or Fivetran.
Basic understanding of finance-related data.
Interest in machine learning and big data technologies
