Technical Engineering Manager

Roles and responsibilities

• Build and lead multiple high-performing engineering teams to build and scale highly

reliable, secure, and performant systems throughout the product development

lifecycle and be responsible for high quality and on-time delivery.

• Understand and influence the product and business roadmap and build consensus

with all the stakeholders

• Define and be accountable for clear actionable goals (in the form of OKRs) and

enable the teams to deliver it.

• Be a hands-on technical leader and drive adherence to best practices and

architectural guidelines.

• Ensure availability, reliability and scalability of systems with high throughput as per

the defined SLAs of the business.

• Collaborate with peers (such as other EMs/Architects) to explore/invest in emerging

technologies, processes & techniques, research ongoing industry trends, and

propose adoption where relevant.

• Drive a results-driven engineering culture with strong bias for action with focus on

engineering excellence.

• Should be a change enabler and prioritise for speed without compromising on the

quality of the outcome.

• Set a very high standard for self and team, and hold them accountable for meeting a

high- standard of performance (backed by metrics).

• Hire, mentor, and coach the best engineering and management talent.

Requirements (Must-haves)

• Strong Technical & Product acumen with proven track record of building and leading

multiple engineering teams of strong Software engineers, Engineering Managers &

Project Managers

• Self-driven, comfortable with a fast-paced, agile, always-on, highly ambiguous startup

environment with customer obsession and deep empathy for people.

• Proven experience with directly interacting with other Business/product/Ops leaders

in defining/influencing/delivering the roadmap/goals into tangible and measurable

outcomes.

• Demonstrated experience with building and delivering internet-scale

products/services in one OR more of these platforms - Native mobile (Android/IOS),

Web(Angular/React/NodeJS), Backend (Java/GoLang)

• Experienced with building distributed systems and microservices architecture in the

Cloud(AWS/Azure/GCP) with exposure to technologies like Java,

Dropwizard/SpringBoot, Kafka, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, Elastic Search, MySQL,

ELK etc.

• Strong fundamentals in system design/architecture, object-oriented concepts,

design patterns and non-functional requirements.

• Should have exposure to a full product lifecycle including design, development,

testing, deployment(CI/CD), monitoring and maintenance.

• Be comfortable to roll up the sleeves to dive-deep into business

dashboards(Looker/Metabase etc) and system monitoring dashboards (New

Relic,Datadog etc.) to assess the health of the systems/services.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate and

present to all levels in the organization, in a precise and concise manner.
