Position Summary:
The Corporate Head of Finance at BBL will be responsible for overseeing the financial strategy and operations of the organization. This role will lead key functions including accounts, finance shared services, tax, treasury, investor relations, financial planning and analysis (F&P), and board support. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, strategic vision, and a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounts and Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement best practices in financial reporting and internal controls.
2. Finance Shared Services:
- Lead the finance shared services team to enhance operational efficiency.
- Streamline processes related to accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
- Drive the adoption of financial technologies to improve service delivery.
3. Tax Management:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the organization's tax position.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and manage relationships with tax authorities.
- Oversee tax planning, reporting, and audits.
4. Treasury Functions:
- Manage the organization's treasury operations, including cash management, funding, and investments.
- Develop strategies for liquidity management and risk mitigation.
- Monitor financial markets to inform investment decisions.
5. Investor Relations:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with investors and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present financial performance reports to the board and investors.
- Communicate the organization's financial strategy and performance effectively.
6. Financial Planning and Analysis (F&P):
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to senior management.
- Support strategic decision-making through comprehensive financial analysis.
7. Board Support:
- Prepare and present financial reports and strategic recommendations to the board.
- Collaborate with board members to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
- Ensure effective communication between the finance team and the board.
8. Governance:
- Establish and maintain financial governance frameworks and policies to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Monitor adherence to corporate governance standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to mitigate risks and enhance organizational integrity.
Background & Experience Required:
Educational Background:
- Master's Degree A master's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is essential. This advanced education provides a strong foundation in financial principles, strategic management, and corporate finance.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation is highly preferred. These certifications demonstrate advanced knowledge and expertise in accounting and financial analysis, enhancing credibility and authority in the field.
Leadership Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles, ideally within large organizations or corporations. Experience in managing teams and cross-functional collaboration is critical for effective leadership.
Financial Operations:
- Proven track record in overseeing diverse financial operations, including accounts, financial reporting, tax management, treasury functions, and financial planning and analysis. Experience should encompass both strategic and operational aspects of finance.
Sector Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the industry in which BBL operates (e.g., pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, manufacturing) is advantageous. Understanding sector-specific financial practices, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics can significantly enhance decision-making.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Extensive knowledge of relevant financial regulations, including IFRS, GAAP, and tax compliance laws. Experience in managing audits and interactions with regulatory bodies is essential.
Behavioural / Management / Other Skills:
- Ability to make decisions, appropriately balancing risks versus impact.
- Strong leadership skills, able to get the buy-in of multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and cope with multiple priorities.
- Ability to drive change throughout an organization, overcoming resistance and barriers.
- Outstanding communication of information and ideas, both written and verbal, to diverse audiences.
