Distribution Manager

As a Distribution Manager, your role is vital in ensuring the efficient and effective distribution of goods from the point of production or procurement to the end customer or retail location. You will oversee the entire distribution process, including logistics, inventory management, and team supervision, to guarantee the timely and cost-effective delivery of products. Your primary goal is to optimize distribution operations while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities : Distribution Strategy : Develop and implement distribution strategies that align with the organization's goals, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery. Inventory Management : Oversee inventory levels, including forecasting demand, monitoring stock levels, and optimizing storage solutions to minimize carrying costs. Logistics Coordination : Plan, coordinate, and optimize transportation, shipping, and delivery processes, including selecting carriers, negotiating contracts, and managing routes. Team Leadership : Recruit, train, and manage a team of distribution staff, including warehouse personnel, drivers, and logistics coordinators. Ensure the team operates efficiently and safely. Quality Control : Implement quality control measures to ensure products meet established standards during the distribution process. Distribution Network : Evaluate and optimize the distribution network, including warehouse locations and distribution centers, to enhance efficiency and reduce transportation costs. Cost Management : Monitor and manage distribution budgets, seeking cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service quality. Compliance : Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including safety and environmental standards, and oversee documentation and reporting requirements. Customer Service : Maintain excellent customer service by addressing and resolving distribution-related issues promptly and professionally. Technology Integration : Implement and leverage distribution management software and technologies to improve tracking, reporting, and overall efficiency. Performance Metrics : Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of distribution operations and identify areas for improvement. Supplier Relationships : Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to optimize supply chain operations, including lead times and delivery schedules. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus. Proven experience in distribution management, preferably in a relevant industry. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in distribution software and technologies. Knowledge of logistics, transportation, and supply chain management principles. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
