Web Developer

Brief of Job Profile:

We are looking for a skilled Web Developer to design, develop and maintain the BSDU website. S/he requires expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies and proficiency in modern web development frameworks.

S/he will work closely with the design company and stakeholders to ensure the site aligns with the university's branding and functionality needs, often including tasks like managing content management systems, optimizing website performance, and staying updated with the latest web technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop responsive, user-friendly website and web applications.

2. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant programming languages/frameworks.

3. Collaborate with design company, and other stakeholders to implement website features and functionalities.

4. Optimize websites for performance, speed, and SEO.

5. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues.

6. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in web development.

7. Ensure cross-browser compatibility and adherence to web standards.

8. Integrate APls and third-party tools as needed.

9. Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities.

10. Create and manage databases to support website content.

11. Ensure website security and accessibility to protect sensitive data and user information.

12. Translate visual concepts into functional web pages.

13. Collaborating with marketing team to understand website content requirements.

14. Other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements/Eligibility Criteria:

1. Bachelor's degree in BCA/B.Sc (CS/IT).

2. Minimum 5 years working experience in website design & development.

3. Experience with e-commerce platforms.

4. Knowledge of UI/UX design principles.

5. Familiarity with graphic design tools.

Key Competencies:

1. Proficiency in web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks.

2. Experience with back-end development using languages like PHP, Python, or Node.js, SQL/PL SOL.

3. Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal, Magneto, MongoDB, Django.

4. A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.

5. Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming and web application development.

6. Understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development.

7. Familiarity with version control tools like Git.

8. Basic knowledge of SEO principles and web analytics tools.

9. Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.

10. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

11. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
