Experience : Linux Administrator with 5+ years of experience in deployment and administration of Nutanix/Hyper-V virtualization platforms.

As an Platform SME you will be supporting Airtels private cloud customers across India. You are expected to have good experience with Virtualization platforms along with networking. We expect you to be agile and learn new skills constantly. You will are expected to be participating in all aspects of the Deployment life-cycle which includes estimating, technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment and support of Linux / Windows platform for our clients.

Having a strong background in Linux administration, virtualization, networking, and security will be required in successfully fulfilling this role.

Additionally, understanding application development lifecycles as well practical experience in working with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools as part of the container lifecycle will be useful.

Responsibilities :

- Fresh deployment/implementation of virtualization platforms.

- Troubleshoot L3 level issues escalated by L1/L2 team

- Upgrade of Hypervisor / Platform

- Handle Nutanix / Hyper-V / KVM Hypervisor.

- Troubleshooting of upgrade issues and roll back if required

- Manage patching of servers using tools

- Support upgrade planning and develop upgrade SOPs for L1 team

- Act as escalation point for L1 team and help them to fix issues

- Infrastructure automation via Ansible to make deployment quick and easy.

- Administration of the cluster

- Work on setting up VMs and other services

- Documentation of the architecture and related components.

- Setup disaster recovery between two sites.

- Assist in change management of platform for new versions of Hotfixes, SysAdmin tasks, etc.

- Cluster capacity management and provisioning through automation of underlying hosts

- Works with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing.

- Authors/edits system documentation/playbook(s)

- May serve as a mentor on procedural matters to less experienced internal and third-party team members.

Skills/Expertise :

- Minimum 5+ years of experience in managing delivery of a large scale customer environment using Hypervisor platforms.

- Excellent leadership and customer service skills.

- Strong teamwork skills and attention to detail.

- Bachelors degree (or above) in Computer Science or related fields.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Technical Skills :

- Experience with handling L3 level support large environments containing more than 1000 servers.

- Sound knowledge of Hypervisor layer preferably Nutanix & Hyper-V

- Sound knowledge of RHEL 7/8/9 & Oracle Linux.

- Advanced knowledge of RHEL clustering configuration.

- knowledge of Nutanix for deployment of Linux VMs.

- Sound knowledge of Security aspects from Linux OS perspective to deliver/implement security policies as per organization guidelines.

- Able to handle most of basic to advanced calls in User, group management, system start-up, service modification, crontab entries, ACL modifications, file system management, root backups.

- Experience in Server Management, Backup, with the help of the tool provided. Any proactive monitoring tools i.e., open view, Tivoli, Big-brother, Data Protector Etc. will be added Advantage.

- Should have used any backup management software i.e., Net backup, TSM, VERITAS, Omnibackup etc. Good working knowledge with iptables, IPv6 and LVM

- Good command over Linux networking commands e.g. ip, ifconfig, brctl, etc.

- Working knowledge of automation tools like Ansible (minimum 1 year)

- Good knowledge of tools like Docker, Jenkins, etc (minimum 1 year)

- Good knowledge of python and shell scripting (minimum 1 year)

- Nice to have knowledge of Kubernetes.

- DevOps experience with large enterprise is a big plus

- Sound knowledge of building and deploying DNS/SMTP/LDAP Servers.

- Good handle on repository management and Linux system patching using tools like Satellite or SMART

- Sound knowledge of Security aspects from Linux OS perspective to deliver/implement security policies as per organization guidelines.

- Able to handle most of basic to advanced calls in User, group management, system start-up, service modification, crontab entries, ACL modifications, file system management, root backups.

- Have networking experience and understanding of network Protocols, DNS, VPN and Load Balancing.

- Strong understanding of public and private Cloud technologies like AWS/GCP/Azure/VMware/Red Hat Openstack will be a plus.
