Senior Database Developer

The Senior Database Developer position will implement and maintain database solutions to support enterprise applications and services for Mediant Communications Inc. The candidate will be able to work within a small technical team to analyze, understand and implement business requirements. The candidate will also provide leadership and mentoring as well as be responsible for ensuring coding standards and performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop, troubleshoot & optimize complex queries, stored procedures, and database scripts
• Develop complex reports using SQL Server Reporting Services
• Provide database related technical expertise to application development team
• Analyze applications, provide solutions for performance issues, solve complex problems
• Provide support to QA department during both internal and external product testing
• Perform developer testing ensuring delivery of accurate and reliable product delivery to QA
• Provide mentorship to less experienced database developers
• Review and approve database code reviews and database pull requests
• Maintain an understanding of Mediant core business and the related database schemas and procedures
• Reviews development tickets to ensure they contain the necessary detail for proper implementation as it relates to database schema, code, and security, as well as application interaction with the databases
• Provides guidance in maintaining consistency in database schema design and coding

Position Requirements/Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of experience in Database Development
• Strong knowledge developing queries, scripts, and stored procedures (T-SQL preferred; PL/SQL or equivalent acceptable)
• Experience with database performance optimization techniques
• Experience building reports using third party reporting tools (SQL Server Reporting Services preferred)
• Must have strong skills in data analysis, database modeling, query writing, and stored procedure development.

• Understands potential implications of design decisions on database load and performance in the Mediant production environment
• Understanding of Mediants core businesses from a technology standpoint
• Up to date on SQL Server and general database best practices
