Job Summary:

The Chief Hostel Warden at Bennett University will be responsible for overseeing the management and administration of the university hostels, ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of the resident students. The role requires strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a commitment to creating a positive living environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Hostel Administration:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of all university hostels.
• Ensure that all hostel policies and regulations are implemented and adhered to by the students.
• Maintain records of hostel occupancy, student details, and any incidents or issues.
• Coordinate with the administration team to ensure that hostel facilities are well-maintained, and any repairs are promptly addressed.

1. Student Welfare:

• Act as a point of contact for students for any concerns or issues related to hostel living.
• Promote a safe and conducive environment for students' academic and personal development.
• Organize and facilitate orientation programs for new hostel students.
• Implement initiatives to enhance the quality of life in the hostels, including recreational activities and wellness programs.

1. Safety and Security:

• Ensure the safety and security of all hostel students.
• Implement and monitor security measures, including gate pass and emergency procedures.
• Liaise with security personnel to address any security concerns.

1. Disciplinary Management:

• Enforce hostel rules and regulations, and handle disciplinary issues with fairness and consistency.
• Address violations of hostel policies and take appropriate action as per university guidelines.
• Mediate conflicts and disputes among students to maintain a harmonious living environment.

1. Staff Supervision:

• Supervise and manage hostel wardens and other hostel staff.
• Conduct regular meetings with hostel staff to discuss operations, issues, and improvements.
• Provide training and development opportunities for hostel staff.

1. Coordination and Collaboration:

• Work closely with other departments, including Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Administration and Maintenance, to ensure a cohesive approach to hostel management.
• Act as a liaison between students, parents, and university administration regarding hostel-related matters.
• Prepare and present reports on hostel operations, occupancy, and student feedback to the university administration.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Management, Education, Social Work). A master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in hostel management or a related field, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to handle emergencies and difficult situations with calm and efficiency.
• Good communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
• Familiarity with safety and security protocols.

Work Hours:

• This is a full-time position requiring flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
