Job Description
- Establish metallurgical requirements for equipment and piping in mining systems, petroleum refineries, petrochemical plants, and LNG plants
- Perform assessments of supplier welding capabilities/competencies
- Develop/Review material selection philosophy reports and material selection diagrams
- Develop/Review technical specifications for materials and joining operations
- Assist to engineering disciplines in preparation/review of data sheets and requisition packages
- Review of materials content in technical bids
- Review Mechanical WPS/PQR/WPQRs, Data Sheets, PIDs LDTs
- Provide post award technical assist to requisitioning engineers
- Assist projects through construction and commissioning phases
- Perform work with minimal technical oversight
- Meet aggressive schedules
- Plan and conduct independent work using sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering practices
- Devise practical approaches to solving materials engineering and welding problems
- Coordinates technical issues with MET specialists, as well as other disciplines on projects
- Travel to assist activities at construction sites, suppliers works, or in other engineering offices
- A minimum of 20 years industrial experience, as well as fluency in both English and Indian dialects is required for this position. Candidate should have at least 15 years of materials engineering technology in an EPC company. The candidate must be qualified to degree level in the practice of Metallurgical Engineering and Welding in India.
- A sound knowledge of material damage mechanisms associated with petrochemical plants and power plants
- Knowledge of international materials standards and pressure vessel and piping fabrication codes
- Broad working knowledge the principles and practices of Materials Engineering
- Ability to correlate work with other engineering disciplines
