Production Engineer

Job Overview:

The Engineer is responsible for supporting and managing production activities during their assigned shift. Acting as the shift in-charge, the Engineer oversees a team of GETs, DETs, operators, and senior operators to ensure smooth production processes. This role involves achieving production targets without errors or complaints, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. The Engineer reports to Senior Engineer and collaborates with Assistant Manager Production to align with overall production goals and schedules provided by the PPIC team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shift Management and Team Supervision:

• Take charge of production activities during the assigned shift, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to schedules.
• Allocate tasks and responsibilities to team members based on production needs and individual skills, ensuring optimal utilization of manpower and machinery.
• Oversee and guide GETs, DETs, and operators to meet production targets efficiently.
• Maintain command over the team, providing clear instructions and resolving issues promptly to avoid delays or errors.

2. Production Execution and Target Achievement:

• Ensure all production activities both on manual and CNC machines are completed as per quality and quantity targets.
• Monitor progress in real-time and adjust workflows as needed to meet production deadlines.
• Act as the first point of escalation for any production challenges, resolving them or reporting to the Senior Engineer as required.
• Strive for error-free production with zero complaints, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to quality standards.
• Arrange raw materials for production as per the production plan by coordinating with Senior Engineer and RM Store team.

3. Machine and Process Oversight:

• Supervise the operation of all production machinery, ensuring proper handling by team members.
• Coordinate with Production Supervisor and the Maintenance team to address machine setups, preventive maintenance, or breakdowns.
• Monitor and report any recurring machine or process issues for long-term resolution.

4. Quality Control and Assurance:

• Train team members on quality standards and practices to ensure consistent adherence to specifications.
• Inspect raw materials and monitor the quality of output, addressing deviations promptly.
• Conduct in-process inspections to verify that products meet the required quality specifications.
• Perform quality checks on finished goods to confirm they meet company standards.
• Take proactive measures to address quality deviations, minimizing rework or rejects.

5. Reporting and Documentation:

• Update and maintain accurate production logs, documenting machine performance, output, downtime, and incidents.
• Provide daily and periodic reports to the Senior Engineer and Assistant Manager Production, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement.
• Update ERP systems with production data for inventory control and analysis.
• Track and report scrap quantities, identifying patterns to enhance efficiency.

6. Safety and Compliance:

• Enforce safety protocols and ensure team members follow proper PPE usage and machine operation techniques.
• Conduct regular safety briefings to instil a safety-first culture within the team.
• Ensure all activities align with company policies and industry regulations, addressing compliance issues proactively.
• Ensure a safe and organized work environment by implementing practices like 6S in all sections.

Key Qualifications:

• Education:
• Diploma/Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Experience:
• For Graduates: 2+ years of experience in a production or supervisory role, preferably within the similar industry.
• For Diploma Holders: 4+ years of relevant experience in a similar role.
• Certifications:
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Safety certifications is a plus.
