Production Planning and Inventory Control Engineer

Job Overview:

The Senior Executive - PPIC plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient planning and scheduling of production activities while managing the inventory to meet customer demands without overstocking. This individual contributor is responsible for creating detailed production schedules, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring timely availability of raw materials and components. This role also involves maintaining an optimal balance between production output, inventory levels, and customer order fulfillment. The Senior Executive works closely with production, procurement, and sales teams to align production plans with market demand, ensuring minimal delays and high efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning

• Production Scheduling: Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory levels.
• Capacity Planning: Assess production capacity and plan accordingly to ensure production output aligns with demand while avoiding overproduction.
• Coordination with Production Teams: Work closely with production supervisors and managers to ensure that planned schedules are feasible and can be executed efficiently.
• Order Prioritization: Prioritize production orders based on customer urgency, product availability, and capacity.

2. Inventory Management

• Inventory Control: Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels for raw materials (SS, MS, GI wires), semi-finished goods, and finished products.
• Reorder Management: Create and manage reorder points and safety stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
• Stock Reconciliation: Regularly perform stock counts and reconciliation of inventory levels to ensure accuracy in records.
• Coordination with Procurement: Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the timely replenishment of raw materials based on production needs and market demand.

3. Demand Forecasting

• Forecast Analysis: Analyze sales trends, market demand, and customer forecasts to predict future production needs.
• Adjusting Production Plans: Modify production schedules based on changes in demand, order cancellations, or sudden urgent orders from customers.
• Data-Driven Decisions: Use historical data, market analysis, and sales inputs to make informed decisions regarding production and inventory planning.

4. Monitoring and Reporting

• Production Efficiency Tracking: Track key value indicators (KVIs) like production output, on-time delivery, and inventory turnover to assess the efficiency of planning and control activities.
• Regular Reporting: Generate regular reports on production performance, inventory levels, and demand forecasts for senior management review.
• Problem Identification: Identify production bottlenecks, material shortages, or discrepancies in inventory and recommend solutions.

5. Coordination and Communication

• Cross-Departmental Coordination: Act as the liaison between production, procurement, sales, and dispatch teams to ensure seamless communication and execution of plans.
• Customer Order Management: Coordinate with the sales team to prioritize customer orders and ensure production schedules align with delivery timelines.
• Vendor Communication: Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure raw materials are available on time and in the right quantities to meet production demands.

6. Continuous Improvement

• Process Optimization: Identify areas for improvement in production planning, inventory control, and demand forecasting to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• System Enhancement: Contribute to the development and improvement of ERP/MRP systems to streamline PPIC activities.
• Cost Control: Implement strategies to reduce excess inventory, minimize stockouts, and optimize the use of resources while maintaining production efficiency.

7. Compliance and Standards

• Adherence to Standards: Ensure that all production and inventory activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of production schedules, inventory levels, and demand forecasts to ensure transparency and accuracy.

Key Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Production Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Experience: 4-6 years in production planning, scheduling, and inventory control, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems in managing production and inventory control.
• Certification: Any relevant certification in PPIC, Supply Chain Management, or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
