Tool Crib Operator

Role & responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of tools, inserts, and equipment in the tool crib, ensuring adequate stock levels and organization
• Issue tools and equipment to production operators based on work orders and job requirements
• Set up and pre-set cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures using tool pre-setter machines or manual methods
• Calibrate tools to specified measurements and ensure they meet accuracy and tolerance requirements
• Record and track tooling usage, including issuance, returns, and inventory levels, using computerized inventory management systems
• Generate reports on tool usage, maintenance schedules, and inventory status as required
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on tools and equipment, such as cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs
• Inspect tools for damage, wear, or defects; replace or repair tools as needed to ensure optimal performance
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment in the tool crib area
• Follow company policies and procedures related to tool management, workplace safety, and regulatory requirements

Preferred candidate profile

• Proven experience as a Tool Crib Operator, Pre-setter, or similar role in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with cutting tools, inserts, and tool pre-setting equipment (e.g., tool pre-setter machines, height gauges).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and tooling specifications
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Knowledge in CNC programming is an added advantage.
