Position Summary:
The General Manager, Content will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing the development, production, and dissemination of high-quality content across various platforms. This role requires a blend of creative vision, operational expertise, and a deep understanding of public health communications. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for impactful storytelling, and the ability to effectively manage a multidisciplinary team. They will ensure that all content aligns with the organization's mission, resonates with target audiences, and contributes to achieving strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Content Strategy and Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that supports the organization's public health goals and communication objectives.
- Lead the content team in creating innovative and engaging content across diverse formats, including written articles, reports, videos, audio programs, social media posts, and interactive materials.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in content creation and distribution.
- Identify and leverage data-driven insights to optimize content performance and audience engagement.
- Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines, messaging frameworks, and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with senior management to align content initiatives with overall organizational strategy.
2. Content Development and Production:
- Oversee the entire content lifecycle, from ideation and planning to production, editing, and distribution.
- Review and provide detailed feedback on technical content briefs, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with project goals.
- Work closely with subject matter experts, researchers, and program staff to develop accurate and compelling content.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, including production houses, freelance writers, editors, and designers.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality content outputs within budget constraints.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure consistency and accuracy across all content.
3. Team Management and Collaboration:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to the content team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Organize and facilitate regular team meetings, cross-functional meetings, and vendor meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.
- Collaborate with other departments, including program, research, advocacy, and fundraising, to ensure seamless integration of content initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, partner organizations, and community leaders.
4. Operational Management:
- Develop and manage the content budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Establish and maintain content production workflows and processes.
- Track and report on content performance metrics, providing regular updates to senior management.
- Manage content archives and ensure proper documentation of all content assets.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's degree in Media and Communications, Public Health, or a related field, with an MBA preferred.
- 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in communications, media, video and audio production, preferably within the non-profit sector, and even more ideally within public health.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful content strategies.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Hindi.
- Strong editing and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using content management systems, social media platforms, and other digital tools.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. -
