About the Role:
The Senior Manager - Training and Development will lead the design, development, and implementation of effective training programs for our staff, partners, and beneficiaries.
This role is critical in ensuring the successful delivery of our programs and achieving our organizational goals.
The ideal candidate will be a passionate and experienced learning professional with a proven track record in developing and managing impactful training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Strategy & Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify training gaps and prioritize development areas.
- Design and develop engaging and effective training programs using a variety of methodologies (e., in-person workshops, online courses, blended learning).
- Research and stay current with best practices in training and development, including emerging technologies and learning trends.
- Create and maintain a training curriculum library and repository of training materials.
Program & Delivery:
- Oversee the logistics and coordination of training programs, including scheduling, venue booking, and participant communication.
- Facilitate training sessions, as needed, and ensure high-quality delivery.
- Manage relationships with external training providers and consultants.
- Adapt training content to meet the specific needs of different audiences.
- Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in all training programs.
Team Management & Collaboration:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of training professionals (if applicable).
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Work closely with other departments within the organization to understand their training needs and provide support.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including program managers, field staff, and beneficiaries.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Develop and implement a system for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs.
- Collect and analyze data to measure learning outcomes and impact on performance.
- Use evaluation results to continuously improve training programs.
- Prepare reports on training activities and outcomes for management.
Budgets and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the training budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
- Manage training resources, including materials, equipment, and technology.
- Negotiate contracts with external training providers.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate or Postgraduate Degree in Education, Human Resources Development, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
- An MBA is preferred.
- Certification in instructional design, training, or related fields (e., CPTD, ATD).
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in training and development, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and delivering a wide range of training programs.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Experience with modern Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools (e., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for the organization's mission and commitment to social change.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with diverse communities.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and methodologies.
- Experience in developing training programs for livelihoods or development-related topics.
- Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation frameworks
