Shift: NAM (5PM to 2 AM)
Primary Skills: AIX - 60% , Linux - 40%
Proficiency in AIX v.5.x 6.1, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 versions;
In-depth knowledge of Logical Volume Manager (LVM), NFS, and JFS2;
Experience with PowerVM, LPARs, WPARs, and VIOS;
Familiarity with monitoring tools (nmon, topas, etc.);
Strong scripting skills (KornShell, Bash, Perl, or Python);
Familiarity with networking concepts, SAN, and backup/recovery solutions;
Knowledge of security and compliance standards, including patch management and system hardening.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and upgrade AIX operating systems and associated software;
Administer and maintain multi-server AIX environments in an enterprise setting;
Perform routine system monitoring, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal system
performance;
Implement and manage high availability (HA) solutions such as PowerHA (formerly HACMP);
Develop and maintain disaster recovery strategies, ensuring robust data backup and recovery procedures;
Configure and manage Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and file systems (JFS2);
Work with SAN (Storage Area Network) technologies, including connecting AIX servers to SAN storage;
Optimize storage allocation and perform regular system audits;
Implement regular system patches, updates, and security configurations;
Configure and manage LPARs (Logical Partitions) and WPARs (Workload Partitions);
Automate routine tasks such as backups, monitoring, and maintenance activities.
Should have good working experience with LPAR migration, server consolidation, storage migration and Disaster recovery.
Linux:
Proven experience as a Linux Administrator or Engineer in an enterprise environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) and system internals.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues in a production environment.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, shell scripting ,Python, Perl) for automation and problem-solving.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible,
- Hands-on experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., Paladin ,Nagios, Zabbix, etc.).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (DNS, HTTP, SSH, NFS, FTP, etc.).
- Experience with server hardware, storage (SAN/NAS), and virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM).
- Knowledge of security practices and hardening techniques for Linux servers.
- Experience in configuring and maintaining cloud-based Linux environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of system backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Provide L3 support for all AIX and Linux-based systems in production and development environments.
- Troubleshoot complex Linux-related issues, including system performance, hardware failures, application errors, and networking problems.
- Monitor system health and proactively address any potential performance bottlenecks, security issues, or outages.
- Collaborate with L1 and L2 teams for issue resolution and escalate complex issues for timely resolution.
- Ensure system availability, reliability, and scalability through regular patching, upgrades, and automation.
- Create, implement, and maintain system configurations, including backup and recovery procedures.
- Implement and manage automation tools to streamline system management tasks (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, etc.).
- Conduct capacity planning and tuning for Linux servers.
- Collaborate with application teams for performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Provide regular documentation, including knowledge base articles, technical notes, and incident reports.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and post-mortem reports for system failures or outages.
- Support and ensure system security, including the implementation of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
- Assist in the setup and management of monitoring tools, alert systems, and dashboards.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members (L1/L2 engineers).
Team Collaboration:
• Provide mentorship and training to junior support staff.
• Develop and deliver knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure team readiness
