Your Role

Atlas Copco is a Swedish multinational industrial company that was founded in 1873 headquartered in Nacka, Sweden.. Atlas Copco is world leader in Compressors manufacturing and It also manufactures industrial tools and equipments.

We are a Engineering Service Provider company within Atlas Copco Group called Global Engineering Centre India Airpower (GECIA). In recent 5+ years, we are also focusing on Digital transformation Technologies for Data Driven Decisions, Web and Applications developments, Automations, Embedded Technology etc.

Data Analytics Competence is the competence withing this Digital Technology Practice of GECIA.

Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned Team Leader -AI/ML to head our dynamic group of data scientists. With a deep understanding of Big Data Analysis, Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Python programming, and Data Engineering, the ideal candidate will lead by example, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

As Team Leader AI /ML your mission is to lead from the front, the Data Engineering/ Data Science team of GECIA to deliver projects and solutions related to Data Science. Also lead the technological advancements and drive the technical competence in teams at Global Engineering Centre of Atlas Copco, to become and remain preferred partner for Data driven business insights and intelligence. You shall achieve this, by driving Innovation and adoption of emerging technologies, developing talent, and achieving operational excellence. At GECIA, we are aiming to become a Centre of Excellence in near future.

The Role

  • Design, develop and execute reskilling / upskilling program.
  • Identification and execution of training plan for each team member

  • Help Team members identify their purpose.

  • Drive culture of Innovation and adoption of emerging technologies in the team to nurture innovative ideas with focus on execution - Be up to date on industry trends, competitive landscape, and drive innovation in areas of Data Engineering/Data Science to stay ahead in the game.
  • Promote Cross-Pollination of the technologies by representing GECIA at various internal and external Technology forums.
  • Develop infrastructure needed and leverage India ecosystem (Universities, Start-ups, Partners) for meaningful Innovative solution with quantifiable business impact.
  • Propose plans to bridge the competency gaps and oversee the implementation of technology solutions throughout the Competence.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

Skills and Experience

  • Lead a team of 8 + Data Scientists, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure professional growth and project success.
  • Drive the delivery of data-driven forecasting and analysis for various business units, ensuring actionable insights.
  • Oversee end-to-end Data Science projects, from ideation to deployment, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data science solutions into the broader tech ecosystem.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in AI and machine learning, applying this knowledge to improve team performance and project outcomes.
  • People Management experience of handling large reporting team is preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing, managing, and building teams for Data Engineering/ Data Science
  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
  • Hands on experiences in following areas related to Data Engineering and Data Science.
  • Prior experience as a Data Scientist / Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques etc.
  • Expert in Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with SQL database design
  • Great numerical and analytical skills
  • Data Scientist or Data engineering certification is a plus.
  • Exposure to Azure technology is a must.
  • Database, Data Warehouse, ETL Processes Design
  • Expertise in data modelling, data governance, data cataloguing, management of metadata, Data lineage, Data quality and data reconciliation
  • Database Analysis, SQL Server Development, and perform SQL Server Development, Requirement Gathering & Analysis, Unit Testing and Live Deployment
  • Anticipate emerging needs of customers and align business processes and resources to meet those needs.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction levels by driving a customer-focused culture and developing new portfolio and services in conjunction with the Service Delivery Head and Business Head to better meet customer needs!
  • Build and maintain strong relationship with all customers and stakeholders from business team of GECIA.
  • Prompt and proactive communication with all stakeholders
  • Building and implementing effective governance mechanism to ensure tracking, progress and update on projects, proposals and business engagement.
  • Create & maintain various Dashboards to Control, Monitor & Improve on key KPI related to Quality, Delivery, and the cost parameters.
  • Ensure GECIA s contribution towards technological advances.
  • Ensure dedicated resources / team availability for the customers.
  • Develop new service offerings and drive business for the same.
  • Develop and coach team members from Business team on technical aspects and competence of Data Scientists team for effective communication with customers as first point of contact from GECIA for Data Analytics Competence
  • Create, Develop & Maintain a Resource Planning Mechanism to deliver optimum resource utilization.
  • Ensure the Costs per hour remains as targeted by the Management.
  • Bring Transparency in resource Planning to indicate the Resource Occupancy on different Projects and identify potential bottlenecks.
  • Identify and plan resource and infrastructure needs required to successfully execute project deliveries.
  • Develop and refine solution offerings, requirements definition and estimation process for effective delivery management.
  • Identify and implement the process improvements related to project management, client interactions, etc. to achieve the business goals.
  • Effectively lead the team to ensure high project billability, profitability, and revenue realization with a focus on quality delivery
  • Identify and engage business partners based on competence / customer needs.

Any Graduate (B.E. / B.Tech/MCA/MTech/BSc/MSc/MCS) in Engineering with 8 plus years of core and relevant experience in Data Science / Data Engineering/Team management field with a proven track record in Big Data Analysis, LLMs, NLP, Python, and Data Engineering.

  • Experience with Data Science projects, AI and ML.
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Bricks, Azure Data factory, SQL, Python, PySpark, ETL
  • Knowledge/experience of Microsoft Azure/Power BI applications

  • Hands on experiences in following areas related to Data Science and Data Engineering, Visualization
    • Prior experience as a data Scientist / Data Engineer or in a similar role

    • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python,)
    • Hands-on experience with SQL database design
  • Knowledge of Agile methodogies with JIRA/SVN
  • Data engineering certification
  • Knowledge of Power BI.
  • You have strong technical knowledge, specific knowledge of the Data Analysis tools, methodologies, reporting etc.
  • Good analytical skills: You feel comfortable working with numbers/data, e.g. collecting and analysing trend graphs, combining the info with insights from ERP and previous site visits, to come to a sound conclusion.
