Job Description
- A staff nurse is a healthcare professional responsible for providing direct patient care in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and community health centers
- They work under the supervision of registered nurses and doctors to deliver high-quality healthcare services to patients
- Key Responsibilities:Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care to patients, including assessing their medical conditions, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with activities of daily living
- Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of patients and promote a safe and comfortable environment
- Nursing Procedures: Perform various nursing procedures, such as wound dressing, intravenous therapy, catheterization, and administering injections
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and safe execution of these tasks
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including medical histories, nursing care plans, and progress notes
- Document all interventions, observations, and treatments performed during the shift according to institutional guidelines
- Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors, registered nurses, and allied healthcare staff, to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care
- Patient Education: Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families regarding their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care practices
- Empower patients to actively participate in their own healthcare management and promote healthy lifestyle choices
- Emergency Response: Recognize and respond promptly to emergency situations, including cardiac arrests, respiratory distress, and other life-threatening events
- Administer CPR, first aid, and other emergency interventions as necessary
