JOB TITLE/ ROLE / DESIGNATION Executive - Conservation and Restoration

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
(List the principal duties, activities and responsibilities for the position in descending order of importance.)1. Conduct thorough assessments of artworks to determine their condition and necessary conservation measures.

2. Perform conservation treatments, including cleaning, repair, and stabilization of artworks using appropriate methods and materials.

3.Document the condition of objects and the conservation processes undertaken through detailed reports and photographic documentation.

4.Collaborate with curators, collection managers, and other gallery professionals to develop and implement preservation strategies.

5.Research historical, artistic, and material aspects of the objects to inform conservation decisions.

6.Stay updated with advancements in conservation science, including new techniques, materials, and ethical standards.

7.Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring the safety and care of artworks during treatment.

8.Educate and communicate with clients or the public on the importance of art conservation and preventive measures.

9.Assist in the handling, transport, and installation of artworks for exhibitions when necessary.
DEPARTMENTAL STRUCTURE

Position reporting to (Designation / Level): Manager

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in art Conservation or a related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (Minimum to Maximum)1+ /2+ years of professional experience in art conservation, with a strong portfolio showcasing conservation projects.

FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL & BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS REQUIREDFunctional / Technical Skills (E.g.: Financial Accounting, Data Analytics, Content Writing, IT etc.)

1. In-depth knowledge of conservation techniques for various types of art, including paintings, paper, textiles, and sculptures.

2.Familiarity with both traditional and modern materials used in artworks.

3.Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity for delicate restoration work.

4. Strong research and problem-solving skills to handle complex conservation challenges.

5.Experience conservation documentation software.

6. Knowledge of environmental monitoring and preventive conservation

Behavioral Skills (E.g.: Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Team Management skills etc.)

1. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while maintaining high ethical standards in conservation practice.

2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
