EPublishing Associate - Kochi - Immediate Hiring

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled ePub Executive to join our digital publishing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for converting, formatting, and validating digital content into ePub formats while ensuring high-quality standards and compliance with accessibility guidelines. This role requires a strong understanding of ePublishing tools, file formats, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Content Conversion: Convert manuscripts, PDFs, and other source files into ePub formats using tools like Adobe InDesign, Sigil, or other publishing software. Handle other digital publishing formats, such as Mobi and PDF for eBooks.
• Formatting & Styling: Ensure proper styling, layout, and formatting of digital content in line with client or platform requirements. Apply CSS and XML/HTML coding for custom styling and templates.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks for formatting, layout, and functionality. Validate ePub files against industry standards (e.g., ePubCheck) and address errors.
• Accessibility Standards: Implement accessibility features such as alt text, tagging, and WCAG compliance for ePub files.
• Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Debug errors or issues with ePub files and ensure compatibility with multiple devices and platforms (Kindle, Apple Books, etc.).
• Documentation: Maintain records of file versions, project milestones, and delivery timelines.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with content editors, designers, and project managers to ensure seamless project execution. Provide technical support and guidance to team members as needed.
  

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Digital Publishing, Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

• 1–3 years of experience in ePub production, digital publishing, or related fields.

Skills:

• Proficiency in ePublishing tools such as Adobe InDesign, Sigil, and Calibre.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML, and ePub standards.
• Familiarity with accessibility guidelines (WCAG, DAISY, etc.).
• Experience with version control and file validation tools (e.g., ePubCheck).
• Basic understanding of graphic editing tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator) is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Soft Skills:

• Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Adaptability to new tools and processes.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with DRM-protected content.
• Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or JavaScript for automation.
• Familiarity with metadata standards (ONIX).
