Job Description
- Maintain and enhance data models of a proprietary database management system
- Maintain a proprietary application implemented on top of our database management system
- Optionally, contribute to maintenance of an existing Jakarta EE application with proprietary backend (Servlet, HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, proprietary procedure language, XML, JSON, TCP/IP, FTP)
- Optionally, participate in maintaining and applying the DevOps environment (Maven, Ant, Jenkins, Artifactory, git, Bitbucket, Jira) as well as mastering the product environment (z/OS, TSO, JCL, Linux)
- Learning and apply proprietary concepts and programming languages of the product
- Understand end-user requirements
- Write commercial/enterprise-grade software
- Provide input on designs for software enhancements and new products
- Ability to identify the presence of code problems, analyze and prepare solutions for discussion with senior engineers
- Document and communicate on technical topics without direction
- Seek to shadow other Engineers; working to debug customer issues
- Work under limited direction of a manager and/or team lead to implement software enhancements, correct defects, and/or create new products
- Proficient at programming while working in a team
- Team-oriented, collaborative, accountable, dependable
- Self-directed learning of the application subject matter
- Exercises curiosity
- Minimum of 2+ years of software engineering experience
- Proven track record of software development in the real world
- Proficient in one or more programming languages
- First experience in data modelling, e.g. domain models, object oriented
- Ability to analyze existing software
- Can-do attitude
- Curious and asks "why"
- Experience with Rocket s Manager Products, ASG Manager Products or MSP DataManager is a plus
- Experience in Mainframe z/OS environment, JCL, DB2 is a plus
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, client server, and HTML is a plus
