The Collection Head plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the group collection operations within a microfinance company. This role involves leading a team of collection officers, ensuring efficient and timely recovery of loans, and maintaining a positive relationship with clients. The Collection Head is responsible for developing and implementing collection strategies to minimize delinquencies and support the overall financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership:

Lead, motivate, and manage a team of collection officers.
•
Conduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills of the collection team.
•
Foster a positive and high-performance culture within the team.
2. Collection Strategy:
•
Develop and implement effective collection strategies to achieve targeted recovery rates.
•
Analyze and assess the credit risk associated with the portfolio to make informed decisions.
•
Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of collection processes and make necessary adjustments.
3. Portfolio Management:
•
Monitor the portfolio's health by tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to delinquency, recovery rates, and portfolio at risk.
•
Implement proactive measures to prevent potential delinquencies and mitigate risks.
4. Client Relationship Management:
•
Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients to encourage timely repayments.
•
Address client concerns and queries related to loan repayments in a professional and empathetic manner.
5. Reporting and Analysis:
•
• Prepare regular reports on collection performance, delinquency rates, and other relevant metrics.
•
• Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve collection efficiency.
6. Compliance and Legal:
•
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to collections.
•
• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to handle legal actions when necessary.
7. Technology Utilization:
•
• Leverage technology tools for efficient tracking, reporting, and communication within the collection team.
•
• Identify opportunities to enhance collection processes through the use of technology.
8. Collaboration:

• Collaborate with other departments such as credit, risk management, and operations to streamline processes and improve overall organizational performance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
•
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. Masters degree is a plus.
•
• Proven experience in microfinance or financial services with a focus on collections.
•
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
•
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•
• Analytical mindset with the ability to use data for informed decision-making.
•
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards in the microfinance industry.
•
• Familiarity with microfinance software and collection tools.
