Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Academic Focus & Planning:

  • Assume responsibility for the entire Academic operation of the school in accordance with CBSE compliance, polices and regulations.
  • Participate in the development of curriculum strategies/lesson plan to support the achievement of the school's overall academic objectives.
  • Assist in planning for entire years academic work in advance; preparation of annual timetable for the classes, department wise and section wise; ensure classroom and subject teacher allotment as per that.
  • Review the syllabus completion and assessment of the progress of the students.
  • Ensure usage of innovation teaching / learning methodologies; monitor syllabus completion; ensure co-operation and coordination amongst teachers of the same subject areas as well as inter subject coordination.
  • Monitor checking of notebooks, class test copies, exam papers by the respective teachers as per scheduled timelines with accuracy.
  • Assist in the preparation of exam timetable and setting of exam question papers and proof reads them for any errors before sending them for printing.
  • Ensure proper co-ordination during external/internal examination in the school campus and interacts with Education Board for exam related works and internal marks submission to the board.
  • Be responsible for taking senior level classes of the concerned subject area as and when required and finish the prescribed syllabus well on time.

Events & Activities:

  • Plan & execute events and activities: (for building community/stakeholder development/enhancing brand image of school) in co-ordination with the centralized events team and implement them as per calendar.
  • Assist in co-ordination of extracurricular activities, interschool competitions, annual programs and signature programs and sports activities to ensure that program objectives are met and school performs to its best.
  • Aim at increasing student participation and success in academics & co-scholastics events and activities at State Level, National Level & International level.

Student Focus:

  • Ensure bringing in academic excellence by providing quality education to every student across classes.
  • Focus on 21st Century Skill Development in students; ensure improvement in communication skills and personality development of each student, multiple intelligence development of students, etc.
  • Bring about improvement in student's performance in Inclusive department by increasing student counselling/ remedial classes and supporting the special educators / counsellors.
  • Make random regular /random class visits and monitor students to ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the code of conduct of the school.
  • Take regular feedback from the teachers regarding any weak students and ensure that they are given extra classes / remedial classes for help.
  • Promote the physical well being of the student and ensures high standard of cleanliness and health habits.
  • Supervise the entry and dispersal of students by being present in school before the students start arriving and staying until the last student has dispersed.

Staff Focus:

  • Participate in teachers recruitment by evaluating demo classes and evaluate teacher’s performance during probation / confirmation period and suggest development needs
  • Keep track of the teacher’s punctuality to ensure they arrive on time and do not miss their regular classes and allots substitution classes to ensure no class is left unattended in the absence of a teacher.
  • Instrumental in resolving disciplinary issues among the teachers and ensure they adhere to the CBSE norms and Service Rules of the school and other HR policies & processes.
  • Build positive relationship with staff; hold and participate in staff meetings and counsel them as and when required ; provide support, help & guidance and academic solutions to staff problems.
  • Monitor & run random check on class attendance registers, teachers’ term wise lesson plans, class log books; ensure notebooks correction by teachers on a regular basis.
  • Ensure teaching learning observations atleast twice for each teacher in a term, with constructive feedback and action plan to improve, and monitor that they implement the same.
  • Ensure that the staffroom and classroom decorum is maintained by conducting regular check and encourage healthy exchange of creative and constructive ideas and innovative teaching methods in classes.
  • Identify and recommend any teacher development workshop or seminars for professional development and upgrading of skill sets for the teachers and also impart training if required.

Parent Focus:

  • Build positive relationship with every parent; meets them face to face on regular interval; respond to their queries; handle grievances on time.
  • Interact with parents during parent-teacher meetings along with subject teachers to provide adequate feedback on their wards regarding both academic and non-academic issues.
  • Get involved in the effective counselling of parents/ guardians wherever required.
  • Ensure maximum parent participation in school events for enhancing parent’s involvement / building stakeholder’s involvement.

Reports & Communication

  • Maintain regular communication with HO functional Head/Team as and when required
  • Prepare, maintain and submit reports as and when required by the CEO / Management on academic status, students and staff.
  • Interact with on premises administrative staff for ensuring seamless work activities.

Candidates with 5-6 years of administrative experience as a Vice Principal , Headmaster/Headmistress with exposure in CESE Board is an added advantage.


Skills: Strong, mature, experienced candidate with good skills of parent communication, political acumen, regional understanding, liaising expertise and administration.



Salary: Best in the Industry , Accommodation facility shall be provided at Haldia.
