Summary / Role Purpose  

The R&D Engineer II joins the Release Management Unit and is responsible for the development of Ansys Licensing as a Service (LaaS), a high-availability API service hosted on Azure. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will use technical and problem-solving skills to collaborate with the team to tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives.  

Licensing as a Service is Ansyss platform for a web-hosted licensing solution that is quickly growing and striving to reach its potential. LaaS hosts multiple license models each with their own requirements and use case. It is a business-critical service that requires rigorous and thorough testing to ensure it meets, and continues to meet, the stringent requirements of its growing user base. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems 
• Understands and employs best practices 
• Performs bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions 
• Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues 
• Works under the general supervision of a development manager 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience 

• BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years experience or MS 
• Strong computing skills with demonstrated knowledge of RESTful APIs, JSON schemas, sustainable development practices, requirements and needs of maintaining a business-critical service 
• Technical knowledge and commercial experience with developing a distributed API service written in TypeScript using Node.JS as a framework in an Agile development environment 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills 

• Technical knowledge and commercial experience with OpenAPI specifications, Azure tools and resources (Bicep, Application Insights, Cosmos DB, Kubernetes, etc.), Node.js  
• Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial organization  
• Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain 
• Good communication and interpersonal skills 
• Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
