Job Description:

The Audio, Visual, and Stage Lighting Control Engineer is responsible for providing comprehensive technical assistance and support for audio-visual (AV) systems in university events, meetings, and other settings. This role ensures the seamless setup, operation, and troubleshooting of AV equipment, including sound, lighting, and video systems, for both in-person and virtual events. The technician will also oversee equipment maintenance, provide live event support, and collaborate closely with event organizers and technical staff to deliver high-quality audio-visual experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support & Help Desk Assistance:

• Act as the primary point of contact for AV support requests, including troubleshooting technical issues, responding to service tickets, and managing inquiries via phone and email.
• Provide real-time assistance to presenters, performers, and event organizers for connecting laptops, devices, and other AV equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to AV systems efficiently.

Sound & Audio Management:

• Adjust sound levels, mix audio feeds, and ensure clear, balanced sound quality throughout venues.
• Manage microphones for speakers and presenters to avoid feedback and distortion.

Visual Presentation & Lighting Control:

• Set up and configure visual equipment such as projectors, screens, and display monitors for optimal clarity.
• Adjust video resolution, aspect ratios, and playback settings to suit different presentation requirements.
• Control event lighting, creating appropriate ambiance to align with the events theme and content.

Live Streaming & Recording:

• Oversee live streaming setups for hybrid or virtual events, ensuring smooth broadcasting to remote audiences.
• Manage event recording and distribution processes to ensure high-quality playback.

Setup, Testing & Maintenance:

• Conduct pre-event testing of AV equipment to ensure proper calibration and optimal performance.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of AV systems, addressing any necessary repairs or replacements.
• Keep an updated inventory of AV equipment and accessories.

Event Coordination & Adaptability:

• Work closely with event organizers and technical staff to coordinate audio and visual cues, ensuring seamless transitions.
• Adapt to last-minute changes, equipment failures, or adjustments required during live events.

Remote Support & Monitoring:

• Use remote monitoring tools to track AV system performance and troubleshoot issues in real-time.
• Implement diagnostic solutions to prevent disruptions.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

• Perform quality assurance checks on AV equipment to maintain high performance standards.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, data privacy regulations, and cybersecurity guidelines.

User Training & Enhancement:

• Conduct training sessions to educate employees and event staff on using AV systems effectively.
• Gather feedback from users to enhance AV experiences and recommend upgrades or new technologies as needed.

Required Skills & Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of sound, video, and lighting equipment and their applications in live events.
• Proficiency in AV control software and remote monitoring tools.
• Hands-on experience with IP Networking Systems and AV technologies.
• Expertise in live streaming and virtual event technology.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for AV systems.
• Ability to set up, test, and calibrate AV systems for optimal performance.
• Effective communication and coordination skills for working with event organizers and technical teams.
