General Manager -Operations (Road Transportation industry)

Role & responsibilities

- Should have the capability to drive Market placement (vehicle hiring from open market) through the team

- Should know the costs of routes PAN India for open market hiring to guide the team

- Must have knowledge of arranging and aligning trucks from open market

- Should have strong vendor channel/ network in open market

- Should know client handling and management (stakeholder management)

- Maintaining discipline within the team and mentor them to improve the performance

- Crisis management and client grievance redressal

- On route issues resolution

- Must have practical experience in dealing with legal operational matters with various authorities

- Work in coordination with finance so that there are no payment related issues

- Should be able to keep a track of activities from loading till unloading

- Manage end to end operations

- Ensuring client satisfaction and governing vendor functions

- Process improvement & Creating SOPs and reports accordingly

Preferred candidate profile

- 20+ years of experience in managing transportation

- Should have hands on experience in both B2B and B2C segments

- Must have managed PAN India own fleet and open market vehicle placement operations

- Should be excellent in handling client concerns and expectations

- Good legal knowledge is required to manage on-road crisis and business related escalations

- Strong administration in process adherence and improvement

- Should be strong in data management and budgeting

- Strong Negotiation skills, team management and vendor supervision

- Ability to handle bidding/ RFQ with team

- Should have good working knowledge of MS- Excel, MS- Word and MS- Powerpoint

- Should be able to think independently and quick decision making

- Good Communication and persuasion Skills

Good To Have Skills

- Hands on E-MIST or equivalent software
