What you will do

In this vital role, you will handle and be responsible for the development of robust data and analytic solutions, while mentoring and guiding a team of data platform engineers. You will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and management of enterprise-level data platform capabilities that support the organization's data-driven critical initiatives. You will continuously strive for innovation in the technologies and practices used for data platform engineering and develop a team of expert data platform engineers. This role will closely collaborate with counterparts in US and EU. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams, including, functional IT, and business partners, to ensure that the solutions that are built align with business goals and are scalable, secure, and efficient.

Leads the planning, execution, and delivery of data platform and analytics solutions, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Is responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable and durable data platform capabilities and solutions that include data governance, data access security, data storage, and analytics for variety of data types.

Develop and lead project plans, timelines, and budgets, and communicate progress to partners regularly.

Lead the RunOps for data platforms, pipelines, and analytics solutions.

Build and feed strong relationships with partners, emphasizing value-focused engagement and partnership to align data initiatives with broader business goals.

Lead and empower a hard-working data platform engineering team to build and deliver durable data platform capabilities for exceptional efficiency and results.

Provide expert guidance and mentorship to the data platform engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and standard methodologies.

Collaborate with counterparts in US and EU and work with business functions, functional IT teams, and others to understand their data needs and ensure the solutions meet the requirements.

Engage with business partners to understand their needs and priorities, ensuring that data and analytics solutions built deliver real value and meet business objectives.

Drive adoption of the data and analytics solutions by partnering with the business key customers and functional IT teams in rolling out organisational change, trainings, communications, etc.

Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and explore opportunities for innovation.

Organizational Leadership:Work closely with senior leaders within the function and across the Amgen India site to align engineering goals with broader organizational objectives and demonstrate leadership by contributing to strategic discussions

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of relevant experience OR

Masters degree in computer science or engineering field and 8 to 10 years of relevant experience OR

Bachelors degree in computer science or engineering field and 10 to 14 years of relevant experience OR

Diploma and 14 to 18 years of computer science and engineering preferred, other Engineering field experience will be considered

5+ years of experience leading a team of data engineers.

5+ years of experience in leading enterprise scale data and analytics solutions development.

Demonstrated proficiency in using cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data engineering solutions. Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles and cost optimization strategies.Experience using Databricks, Snowflake, Python, PowerBI, Tableau.

Proven ability to lead and develop hard-working data platform engineering teams.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills to address sophisticated data challenges.

Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with Databricks.

Experience working with platform and shared service models.

Experience working with agile development methodologies such as Scaled Agile.

Experienced with software engineering best-practices, including but not limited to version control (Git, Subversion, etc.), CI/CD (Jenkins, Maven etc.), automated unit testing, and Dev Ops.

Professional Certifications:

SAFe for Teams certification (preferred)
