Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer – Switchgear Industry

Job Summary
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for developing, documenting, and reviewing electrical designs for switchgear products. This role involves creating detailed schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams, ensuring designs meet industry standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI) and customer requirements, and supporting production and installation efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, proficiency in CAD software, and experience in electrical design within the power distribution or switchgear industry.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Design:
†Develop comprehensive electrical designs for switchgear panels, including schematic diagrams, layout plans, and wiring diagrams using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar software).
†Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and design documentation for each project.
Standards and Compliance:
†Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., IEC, ANSI, NFPA).
†Incorporate safety, reliability, and quality considerations into design processes.
Collaboration and Coordination:
†Work closely with mechanical engineers, production teams, quality assurance, and procurement to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
• Participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings to align project objectives and resolve design issues.

Technical Support:
• Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of switchgear systems.
• Assist in the preparation of technical proposals and tender documentation by providing detailed design inputs.
Continuous Improvement:
• Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and design best practices.
• Identify and recommend improvements in design processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within the switchgear, power distribution, or industrial automation sectors.
• Experience of similar electrical Panel industry will be preferred,
Technical Skills:
• Proficient in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN).
• Strong understanding of electrical circuit design, control systems, protection schemes, and power distribution.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to switchgear design.
Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Additional Requirements:
• Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with project management practices is advantageous.
• Willingness to occasionally visit manufacturing sites or customer locations as needed.
Working Conditions
• Primarily office-based with access to design labs and occasional site visits.
• Standard office hours with potential for extended hours during critical project phases.
