Business Intelligence Engineer, Amazon

Amazon Business Payments and Lending organization is seeking a highly quantitative, experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to drive the development of analytics and insights. You will succeed in this role if you are an organized self-starter who can learn new technologies quickly and excel in a fast-paced environment. In this position, you will be a key contributor and sparring partner, developing analytical solutions that global executive management teams and business leaders will use to deep dive into the businesses and define strategies.

Our team offers a unique opportunity to build a new set of analytical experiences from the ground up. You will be part of the team that is focused on acquiring new merchants from around the world to payments around the world. The position is based out of India but will interact with global leaders and teams across Europe, Japan, and US. You should be highly analytical, resourceful, customer focused, team oriented, and have an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines. You will be comfortable thinking big and diving deep. A proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment is strongly preferred.


Key job responsibilities
Define and develop business critical metrics and reports across all international business levers, key performance indicators, and financials.
Design, develop and maintain scalable, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our analytical and business needs.
Own alignment and standardization of analytical initiatives across the global business teams.
Analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
Proactively make and justify recommendations based on advanced statistical techniques, deep familiarity with the customer or developer experiences, as well as by cross-referencing multiple data sources and comparing against the wider industry.
Providing requirements for telemetry and data structure to improve ability to extract data efficiently and provide the team insights faster
Own key executive reports and metrics that are consumed by our VPs and Directors
Provide thought leadership in global business deep dives across a variety of key performance indicators.
Partnering with engineering, product, business and finance teams to create key performance indicators and new methodologies for measurement.
Fluency in analytical communication to translate data into actionable insights for stakeholders both in and out of the team, create analytical insights to identify key priorities
Determine best-in-class performance reports and automate reporting for regular metrics, identify areas of opportunity to automate/self-service, scale ad-hoc analyses, build and inform BI tool improvements.


A day in the life

- Analyze data and find insights to either drive strategic business decisions or to drive incremental signups or revenue.
- Define and develop business critical metrics and reports across all international business levers, key performance indicators, and financials.
- Own alignment and standardization of analytical initiatives across the global business teams
- Drive efforts across international business leaders, BI leaders and executive management across Europe, Asia and North America.
- Own key executive reports and metrics that are consumed by our VPs and Directors
- Provide thought leadership in global business deep dives across a variety of key performance indicators
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research.
- Experience in solving business problems by leveraging advanced analytical techniques such as predictive modelling (linear regression, time series forecasting), classification algorithms (K-means, KNN, SVM etc. )
- Proficiency in SQL and in one or more programming language - Python, Scala, Ruby and Java.
- Knowledge of data management fundamentals, data storage principles, ETL, Data Modeling, and Data Architecture.
- Knowledge on using business intelligence reporting tools - Tableau/QuickSight/Looker.
- Familiar with theory and practice of information retrieval, relevance, Statistics, and data mining and skilled at data visualization and presentation.
- Excellent problem solving skills, combined with the ability to present your findings/insights clearly and compellingly in both verbal and written form.
