The Engineering Technician provides essential support to engineering activities within the lab environment. Responsibilities span from assembling and testing electronic systems to managing components and procuring necessary equipment. This role requires a hands-on individual with strong technical skills and a meticulous approach to their work. Occasional travel within city limits may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
Constructing printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electro-mechanical systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications.
Maintaining an organized and efficient lab environment, arranging components, and managing lab equipment.
Overseeing Bill of Materials (BOM), procuring components, and ensuring timely availability of necessary parts.
Testing and modifying evaluation boards, identifying and resolving technical issues, and documenting findings.
Programming microcontrollers (MCUs), sensors, power integrated circuits (ICs), Arduino, and Raspberry Pi (RBPi) platforms.
Designing schematics and layouts using Altium Designer software.
Utilizing schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions, and layouts to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting of electronic systems. Conducting operational tests and fault isolation on systems and equipment.
Proficiently using various lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, multimeters, and specialized test equipment. Applications include power electronic circuits, sensor assemblies, and analog/digital systems.
Skills Required:
Strong understanding of electronic principles, circuit analysis, and troubleshooting techniques. Familiarity with various electronic components and their applications.
Proven experience in assembling and testing electronic systems, including soldering, wiring, and using test equipment.
Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout design. Experience with programming software for MCUs, Arduino, and RBPi.
Ability to organize and maintain a lab environment, manage components, and ensure the availability of necessary equipment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with engineers and document findings.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and project requirements.
