Our global payroll solution is an integral part of this vision, and we are looking for a Product Manager to lead the development and optimization of the Global Payroll Engine.
Role Overview :
We are seeking a Product Manager with a deep understanding of payroll systems, especially with experience in building core payroll engines to meet global payroll requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll processing across multiple geographies, a strong understanding of local labor laws and tax regulations, and the technical acumen to drive the development of a scalable, compliant, and efficient payroll solution within the Akrivia HCM platform.
Key Responsibilities :
- Product Strategy : Develop and own the roadmap for the Global Payroll Engine, ensuring alignment with the overall product vision of Akrivia HCM.
- Core Payroll Engine Development : Lead the design and development of a robust and scalable core payroll engine that can handle complex global payroll calculations, tax processing, deductions, benefits, and compliance requirements.
- Global Compliance & Regulations : Ensure the payroll engine meets local labor laws, tax compliance, and statutory reporting standards for multiple countries, including the US, Europe, APAC, and others.
- Feature Definition : Define and prioritize features for payroll processing, tax engine integration, reporting, and payroll customization for different countries and industries.
- Collaboration with Engineering : Work closely with the engineering team to ensure the architecture of the core payroll engine is optimized for scalability, accuracy, and performance.
- Market Research & Regulatory Updates : Conduct ongoing research into global payroll trends, country-specific regulatory updates, and customer needs to inform product enhancements.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Engage with key stakeholders, including engineering, sales, marketing, customer success, and clients, to gather feedback and ensure the payroll solution meets market and customer expectations.
- User Stories & Requirements : Translate complex global payroll requirements into clear, actionable user stories, business requirements, and specifications for the development team.
- Product Launch : Lead the global release of new payroll features, including localization, tax engine updates, and support for additional countries.
- Documentation & Training : Develop comprehensive documentation and training materials to support internal teams and external customers in understanding the global payroll solution.
- Competitive Analysis : Stay updated on the competitive landscape, identifying key differentiators and incorporating best practices into the payroll engine.
Requirements :
- Experience : 5+ years of product management experience, preferably with a focus on global payroll solutions, HR technology, or financial technology.
- Strong expertise in building and managing payroll engines is required.
- Domain Knowledge : Proven experience in designing, building, or managing a core payroll enginethat handles complex payroll processing, tax compliance, and benefits administration across multiple geographies.
- Technical Acumen : Solid understanding of the technical aspects of payroll systems, including tax engines, integrations with ERP systems, and handling large-scale payroll data.
- Global Compliance Expertise : Deep knowledge of global labor laws, tax compliance, payroll reporting, and statutory requirements for countries such as the US, UK, Europe, APAC, and others.
- Analytical Skills : Strong analytical skills to assess payroll-related business needs and translate them into scalable, effective product features.
- Project Management : Excellent project management and organizational skills, with a track record of delivering payroll-related products on time and within scope.
- Communication : Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally with engineering, design, customer success, and external clients, while clearly conveying the product vision.
- Customer Focus : Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences through a well-designed and compliant global payroll solution.
- Education : Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent is a plus.
- Tools : Experience with product management tools like Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
- Experience with HRMS or payroll platforms is a significant advantage.
Nice to Have :
- Experience with payroll tax engines or integrations with global payroll service providers.
- Understanding of payroll integrations with ERP systems (i.e., SAP, Oracle) and accounting platforms.
