Job Title: Project Lead - Technical Java Lead (70% Technical, 30% Managerial/Client-Facing)
Job Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Lead with strong technical expertise in Java and proven managerial capabilities. The ideal candidate will balance hands-on technical contributions with leadership responsibilities, overseeing project execution, managing client relationships, and guiding teams toward successful delivery. This role requires a solid Java & Python technical working knowledge, understanding of Agile (Scrum) principles, excellent stakeholder management, and a proactive approach to addressing technical and project-related challenges.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to navigate complex client relationships, including managing difficult or resistant stakeholders, while fostering a collaborative team environment. This role demands strong decision-making skills, particularly in scope control, escalation management, and project governance, coupled with the ability to mentor and inspire high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership (70%):
Provide hands-on technical guidance in Java & Python work assignments, ensuring robust architectural decisions, code quality, and alignment with best practices.
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and troubleshooting to support the team in resolving technical challenges.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
Understand technologies like AWS, Python, DB2, and related frameworks to effectively contribute to discussions and decision-making.
Lead estimation efforts for technical tasks, ensuring realistic timelines and resource allocation.
2. Project Management (30%):
Project Execution: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget across Agile (Scrum) and Waterfall frameworks.
Stakeholder Management: Engage effectively with clients, team members, and leadership, including managing resistant or challenging stakeholders.
Change & Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks, manage dependencies, and implement strategies for scope control and change management.
Facilitating Responsibilities: Resolve team impediments, promote a culture of continuous improvement, and at times facilitate Scrum ceremonies.
3. Governance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with project governance standards and refine processes to enhance efficiency and transparency.
Provide consistent, clear reporting on project progress, risks, and success metrics to stakeholders and leadership.
Track KPIs and success metrics to measure project outcomes and client satisfaction.
4. Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Lead and mentor team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
Promote accountability, ensure effective communication, and drive team alignment with organizational goals.
5. Continuous Improvement:
Identify gaps in governance and processes and implement optimizations to streamline workflows and enhance delivery quality.
Drive alignment of technical solutions and processes with business objectives.
