Devsecops Engineer

A DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for integrating security practices seamlessly into the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), working closely with development and operations teams to design, implement, and manage security tools and processes within a continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipeline, essentially "shifting left" to embed security early in the development process.

Key responsibilities of a DevSecOps Engineer:

• Security Integration: Embed security checks and scans into the CI/CD pipeline, including static application security testing (SAST), dynamic application security testing (DAST), and infrastructure vulnerability scanning.
• Code Review and Security Best Practices: Educate developers on secure coding practices, review code for potential vulnerabilities, and suggest security improvements.
• Threat Modeling and Risk Assessment: Identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities within applications and infrastructure, and prioritize mitigation strategies.
• Security Automation: Develop and maintain security automation scripts to streamline security processes, such as automated patching, configuration management, and incident response.
• Incident Response: Monitor for security incidents, investigate potential breaches, and coordinate response activities with relevant teams
• Compliance Management: Ensure applications and infrastructure adhere to relevant security compliance standards and regulations
• Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and security teams to foster a culture of shared responsibility for security

Required Skills:

• Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in the development environment (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript)
• Security Knowledge: Deep understanding of security concepts like authentication, authorization, encryption, and vulnerability management
• DevOps Tools: Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Security Testing Tools: Familiarity with SAST, DAST, and other security scanning tools
• Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate technical security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholder
