Job Description: Retail Sales Head (Pan-India)
Location: Delhi, India
Role Overview:
The Retail Sales Head will drive sales strategies, oversee operations, and manage relationships with key retail clients across India. This individual will play a vital role in expanding the company's market presence, achieving sales targets, and ensuring consistent brand representation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the retail landscape in India, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage a distributed sales team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales Strategy & Planning:
a. Develop and implement retail sales strategies to increase market share and achieve sales targets.
b. Conduct market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to refine the sales approach.
c. Formulate annual and quarterly sales plans, set revenue targets, and forecast projections for retail channels.
2. Operational Management:
a. Oversee the daily operations of retail sales across various regions in India.
b. Ensure smooth execution of promotional campaigns and initiatives.
c. Manage inventory levels and stock replenishment for retail outlets, ensuring optimal product availability.
3. Team Leadership & Development:
a. Lead, mentor, and manage a nationwide team of regional retail sales managers and representatives.
b. Conduct regular training and performance evaluations to maintain high sales standards and motivate the team.
c. Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture aligned with company values.
4. Customer Relationship Management:
a. Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail clients, distributors, and channel partners.
b. Address and resolve any customer concerns promptly to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
c. Regularly visit major retail outlets and partners across India to strengthen client relationships.
5. Financial & Performance Analysis:
a. Monitor sales performance against targets and implement corrective actions where necessary.
b. Analyze retail sales data, customer feedback, and market trends to inform business decisions.
c. Manage the retail sales budget and optimize expenditure to ensure cost-effectiveness.
6. Brand Development:
a. Ensure consistent brand representation and adherence to brand guidelines across all retail channels.
b. Collaborate with marketing and product teams to plan and execute product launches, events, and promotions.
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Proven Retail Sales Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years in retail sales with a successful track record of managing nationwide sales operations.
- Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership skills with experience in managing large teams across multiple locations.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in sales data analysis, financial planning, and forecasting.
- Communication & Negotiation: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a dynamic retail environment and stay updated with industry trends.
Educational Qualifications:
- MBA or equivalent degree in Sales/Marketing is preferred.
- Preferred Software Proficiency: MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint,
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel extensively across India as per business needs.
- Strong understanding of the Indian retail market dynamics, including regional preferences and consumer behavior.
