About the Role

The key accountability of a Patent Manager in Advanz Pharma is to the Transformation office and to the Corporate Development team for quality of patent analysis and strategic input into their decision-making processes, particularly as regards evaluation of pipeline projects, and the creation and management of protective and defensive strategies.

What You ll Do:
  • Provide patent support to the various regional and local Corporate Development teams in adding new opportunities to the ADVANZ pipeline.
  • Provide searches and analysis directed to freedom to operate and Patent validity in support of product launches.
  • Work with external counsel to clarify and mitigate risk during the diligence process. Support Legal colleagues negotiating contractual terms influenced by IP outcomes.
  • Support the Head of Patents in managing patent litigation risk for existing generic and biosimilar pipeline assets. Manage external counsel and search/information resources as needed.
  • Support Head of Patents, Transformation Office and other key internal clients in preparing pipeline assets for launch.
  • Support colleagues by ensuring consistency IP messaging and addressing IP Legal risk in marketing, pricing & reimbursement and supply chain activities.
  • Support colleagues across the entire business with competitive intelligence derived from IP sources.
  • Support the Head of Patents and Global General Counsel to effectively manage internal IP portfolio. Provide analysis and liaise with external counsel (as needed) to investigate cost and value.
  • Work closely with others in the Legal, Corporate Development and Commercial functions to achieve a comprehensive, risk-managed and strategic approach to IP management, IP strategy and new product launches.
  • Support the Head of Patents so as to increase the level of IP knowledge in the business and to build that knowledge into the way in which the business operates.

    For this role, you will also have the following: Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in any discipline within Life sciences or Post- graduate specialisation in IP Laws.

    Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    Must have decent experience in Intellectual property in armaceutical manufacturing.
  • Experience of Patent searching for freedom to operate and invalidity analysis in global markets like Europe & US.
  • Proven ability in supporting diligence for licensing or M&A. Open and adaptable to challenging environments. ability and attention to detail Ability to work with colleagues across a broad range of disciplines and functions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and use strong writing and verbal skills to communicate facts, figures, and ideas to others.
  • A positive and can-do approach, biased towards finding solutions and embracing change. Inspired by our values of entrepreneurship, speed and integrity.
