Role: Deputy General Manager (DGM) / Senior Manager - Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Location: Sayakha Plant, Gujarat.
Position Summary:
- The Deputy General Manager / Senior Manager - Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) will initially oversee QC/QA activities at the Sayakha plant, with responsibility for maintaining and enhancing product quality across the company's product lines, including Gravure (Liquid Inks), Offset, Adhesives, and News Ink.
- This role is pivotal in driving quality initiatives and establishing stringent quality standards. Over time, the incumbent will expand their scope to oversee QC functions across all company facilities. The role reports to the DGM - QC and manages a dedicated QC team of three at the Sayakha plant.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Control and Assurance:
- Develop and enforce QC/QA policies, procedures, and standards, particularly at the Sayakha plant, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee QC testing of raw materials, inprocess samples, and finished goods to meet established quality parameters, particularly for printing ink products.
- Collaborate closely with the technical, production, and R&D teams to define and update quality specifications, integrating new formulations into production lines.
- Conduct regular QC audits to ensure compliance with internal and external standards, taking corrective action when necessary.
2. Continuous Improvement:
- Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at process optimization, waste reduction, and enhanced product performance.
- Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for identified quality issues or nonconformances.
- Track and analyze QC data to identify trends, collaborating with production and R&D teams to resolve quality concerns and drive product quality advancements.
3. Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with relevant quality regulations and industry standards, both local and international.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for QC/QA procedures, testing results, and product specifications for both internal use and regulatory audits.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work with technical service teams to address and resolve customer reported quality issues.
- Support customer audits and conduct supplier evaluations and audits to ensure consistent quality in the supply chain.
5. Reporting and Analysis:
- Provide senior management with regular updates on quality performance, identifying risks and areas for improvement.
- Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics, nonconformances, and continuous improvement actions, contributing to data driven decision making at the senior level.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: M.Sc. in Chemistry (preferable) or B.E. in Chemical Engineering
Experience: 15+ years in quality control and assurance, ideally with experience in the printing ink industry or related fields like coatings, adhesives, or chemicals. Experience with competitors such as Siegwerk, Sakata Ink, Toyo, Huber, Hutamachi, Flint, HiTech Inks, or companies in the paint industry is preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency in QC testing methodologies, knowledge of ink manufacturing processes, and expertise in quality management systems. Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment, analytical techniques, and quality control software is essential.
- Ability to lead and mentor a QC team, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively across departments.
