Job Title: Manufacturing Head, Vice President
Location: Noida
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Direct Reports: 4 Plant Heads
Team Size: 50 employees and approximately 300 outsourced personnel
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Head will be responsible for overseeing operations across India's four manufacturing facilities and two contract manufacturing sites.
This role will focus on optimizing production, managing costs, ensuring quality standards, and delivering on customer service expectations.
The incumbent will lead continuous improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, and handle union management.
As a key leadership role, the Manufacturing Head will collaborate with multiple functions including Technology, Quality Control, Procurement, Human Resources, and Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Budget Development & Management: Formulate and execute annual manufacturing budgets, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and financial targets.
- Cost Control: Ensure production costs are within budget, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.
- Customer Service: Collaborate with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to meet production schedules and customer requirements, ensuring timely delivery and satisfaction.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement and promote continuous improvement strategies to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
- Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all legal, environmental, and safety regulations, including labour laws and standards.
- Union Management: Handle union negotiations and maintain positive industrial relations, ensuring smooth plant operations.
- Team Leadership & Morale: Lead, motivate, and ensure high morale within the manufacturing team. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Technology, Quality Control, Procurement, Human Resources, and Finance to ensure alignment with overall business goals.
- New Product Introduction: Ensure smooth implementation of new products in collaboration with technology and quality teams, adhering to global quality standards.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Chemical or allied fields, from a premier institute such as IIT, NIT, or UDCT.
- At least 20 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, with a focus on the chemical industry, preferably in multinational organizations.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale plant operations, including multi-plant responsibilities or having held the role of Works Manager.
- Strong experience in handling unions and managing industrial relations effectively.
- Extensive experience in cost control, budget management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Expertise in managing cross-functional collaboration and driving large-scale operational improvements.
Preferred Experience
- Background in companies like BASF, Asian PPG, AkzoNobel, Neuryon, Huntsman, DuPont, Covestro, or similar multinational chemical manufacturers.
- Strong knowledge of production processes in the Printing Ink or specialty chemicals sector.
- Experience in managing outsourced personnel and third-party manufacturing facilities.
Age Requirement: 45 to 50 years
Desired Competencies
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire large teams across multiple sites.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, particularly in union management and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Strong financial acumen, with a focus on cost control, budgeting, and resource optimization.
- Proficiency in continuous improvement techniques such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
